I like to go the the national forest a few times every squirrel season. I try to take 2 or 3 days off and stay in a cabin. While we have squirrels here at my house and land, I kind of see those as my pets & they are spared the pot. This morning I did not get into the woods until 8am, as I sleep good when there is no noise and the canopy where I was staying kept the sun from waking me. Well here is a few squirrels I got this morning. Two of these were on the ground and one was in a hickory about 100 ft up. That s what I like about the forest, the trees there are huge. I take my vacum packer with me and get them packed. A fellow from down the road from where I hunted, said he would like a mess, so I packed him up half a dozen quartered.
I like the big woods this time of year, up until mid November , then I stay out or off public land until morel season in the spring.
