I got a replacement .22 Sapsan for the one that had a regulator issue, then the dealer had a little oops and broke it so, a new one arrived. Started messing with it and trying to remember WTH I'd done with the first one. Couldn't quite get the pellet speeds up, the first one loved AA 16 gr but this one no go, but liked JSB 18.13 but they were a touch slow even with the hammer spring adjustor cranked all the way in. I took it apart and compared that spring to my original, I'd done some mods so the dealer sent me back my special HSA, spring and guide. Well what the heck, the old spring was 2.5 coils longer, then I started chatting with. my buddy JArmstrong, he suggested I flip the guide around and it would add weight to the hammer. Well I did that, along with the longer spring, put the HSA in about half way, buttoned it up, charged up the gun loaded in some 18.13's and HOL-E-poop 998fps, ok that's just a touch high, then I loaded in some 22gr slugs, they perked along at 950 or so. Need to do more experimenting, with the shorter spring, I'm certain I'm not going to be leaving that that cooking at those speeds, but it is interesting.
