This guy/gal is living in my old chicken barn... as you can see it is in the area of my backyard range. I have all those ranges measured... it’s 40 yards away... a gimme from my deck. It’s been getting a pass as it’s doing the weed whacking I haven’t been doing. Spent half and hour looking at it through my riflescope... sending imaginary projectiles at it. If it makes a family then “there will be blood”.

Maybe it already has made a family and you haven’t detected them yet. Might want to take precautionary measures and take it out now BEFORE its status is changed to “WANTED”. I let the rabbits pass in my yard until this past year when I noticed they chewed my blueberry plants to nubs and stripped the bark off of the fruit trees I planted. Now they are #1 on the hit list.

Last year I shot and killed 4 chucks on my property and then saw no more. Just letting them repopulate a little...

I had one living outback , never bothered him. He got so friendly ya could walk slow to him and pet it. He never hurt a thing enjoyed watching his antics lol

Hi,,what would be the maximum effective range for killing a groundhog with a pellet rifle? Using a 22 cal break-barrel. Pellet JSB 18.13 gr. Velocity 600 FPS. Groundhogs will cause significant structural damage to houses and wooden buildings by gnawing on the floor joists and posts. I have a co-worker who bought a fixer upper house. The groundhogs may condem the house before he can get the house fixed up. I lent him my break-barrel 22cal,B25. He said he headshot 1 but it did'nt kill it.I don't know at what range he shot from. I advised him to try and stay with-in 40 yds. He should be using traps but I guess he does'nt have any.

Max 20 yards... which is about 12 FPE according to Strelok Pro. Chucks are tough critters, shot placement is critical.

I let one pass the other day. Then I caught him mowing down my deer food plot. That was the first and final straw. I don’t let them pass if they are in the yard. Digging under the deck, undermining the floors in the barn and eating the soybeans.

How come you didn't let him borrow the FX Dreamline that you won? You know, to get the job done.
