Just received this dandy little package and it is surely sweet. The Atomic XR is at this point a proven platform. It lineage is undeniable, quality PCPs that simply perform. The Athlon Scope, Sport Match rings, 0dB moderator and gun case make it all the sweeter. The case is spacious enough to hold the two guns, pump, pellets, binos, rangefinder, etc. So when I’m ready for a pesting session it’s all there, ready to go. It’s no secret here on AGN that I love using this little beastie. Not a guru, authority or anything of the sort. Just an enthusiastic shooter who is a plinking fool.
My intent for this second one is to play around with different pellets and optics. Allow some of the kids in my clubs’ Junior Sportsmen’s program to use it. Single loading to keep it simple. Going to expose them this Spring, hoping to open the eyes of some fellow club members. Last year did not pan out in that regard. The program took a direction I had issues with, which have been somewhat resolved. The first Atomic XR stay strictly my pester/plinked, don’t want to mess with it. That said the new Atomic XR is performing to my expectations, “right out the box” scope came mounted. Within a few clicks I was on at 25 yards. Then a few black walnut husks at 50 yards… As received the trigger pull was so heavy. I thought the safety was on, quickly remedied and all is good. She’s already dialed for what I do. She is already demanding to be blooded, so off after starlings I go.
