My RX glasses people

Ok....😑
So ,in a scope; my glasses are a no go
...but shooting glasses are fine.
For red dots my glasses are fine, shooting glasses not so much.
Iron sights I only need my glasses for precise shots past 10 yards😵‍💫
Anyone else have these weird problems?

Sounds like you need to adjust the diopter of your scopes to your new glasses. I am like you and finally broke down and got an eye check. Low power script and only really need them for distance. Reddots got better, open sights I can see the target better. Now I need to go back and adjust my diopters for the glasses.

What about optics that are non adjustable? I mean I figured out my own way to get around my problems but I'm wondering if there are solutions like you mentioned. Pretty sure I need new glasses*they are old(eye correction is fine)and scratched to hell compared to my optic lenses.

What optics out there without diopter adjustment? ACOG is the only one I can think of at the moment. I have shot powder burner competitions for so long without corrected eye sight that I am itching to try it with my glasses now. Had too many stage officers tell me "Why didn't you shoot another round at that target?" after show clear and holster. It was because I couldn't see the dang bullet holes in the cardboard. I was always upper middle range in the rankings but where would I fall now that I can see the hits.

Few of my scopes don't adjust🤷‍♂️ but the ones that do, I can dial in without glasses easy. The ones that dont; I use my glasses to "dial" farther than scope is set. It's just a pain to either lower my glasses or push them up for a shot if im unsure of exactly precise distance. It's not a HUGE problem; just bugs me😵‍💫🤣🤙

Time to revisit this thread.
After a couple of frustrating years trying to get the most out of my HFT rigs and spending stupid money on high dollar scopes, I was still making ranging errors - even after painstakingly preparing my parallax wheel and dope.
At the 2023 AAFTA National event I had several very experienced people and great shooters tell me to stop using my glasses while ranging.
Apparently, you can get a much better eyebox and use an eyecup if you don’t wear glasses.
BUT…..This means you need to set your diopter without glasses and then create your ranging wheel and associated dope without glasses!

You can still wear your readers or glasses between lanes or to see your parallax wheel, but take them off when putting your eyes to the scope.

Statistically speaking, if I redo all my scopes and associated parallax wheels and create new dope, if my KZ hit score jumps above 44% it worked.
More to come but it’ll take me a month to get all this redone 🙃

I shoot more accurately when I shoot without my glasses. I can get a decent view with the glasses, but glare and reflection seem to get in no matter what I do or use. Not a problem with them off. I do like @cavedweller when target shooting - put the glasses on when not shooting to walk around and not trip on s!!t. Hunting is harder as I need the glasses to spot game and then take them off to line up a shot - PITA! I use to wear contacts but that phase in life has passed. Maybe lasik would be the answer, except from talking with friends that have have it done, I'm worried that my night shooting might go to hell in a handbasket with the "starry effect" and I like the rat shooting too much to try it!

Good info for sure. When I was paired with Tyler Patner he would get situated, remove his glasses, range, shoot then put his glasses on. I was perplexed by it some. Now it makes sense as to why he was doing it.

My eyes are aging some and I just started wearing glasses for clarity. I'm getting used to them. Thank you for sharing as it saved me alot of headache as I setup a few scopes and wheels.

I have several pair of prescription glasses. But for some reason I find 1.25 -1.50 readers for shooting & hunting are best for me. I Buy prescription readers and have all the coatings added. I use yellow & clear lens, actually like the clear best. I find the safety ones with the shield around them are great as they block light that distracts me. Got this pair from RX Safety, but my favorite pair clear came from Eyebuydirect, with all coatings. I do have cats in both eyes, maybe that is why readers work best for me.

I think it is reasonable in (risk v reward) to use common sense and at times forgo certain "safety requirements".
That said, if there is any potential of ricochet, or, chance of mechanical failure, or hearing damage, safety equipment is prudent.
We could wear bullet proof vests and hard hats as well; sometimes we have to protect ourselves from ourselves or inattentive people.
I think what i am trying to explain, in this particular thread, is that in Field Target, especially HFT, to get the proper eyebox, glasses will almost always interfere, as such, it is a "prudent risk" to remove them while ranging / establishing the correct parallax focus or adjustment to determine distance; once done it is easy enough to put your glasses back on.
