Air Arms My new TX200 has landed. quick questions please

My left handed TX200 showed up today and I had a few questions hopefully someone can answer for me. Please note, I’m new to air rifles, so the answers may be common knowledge but I can’t seem to find them with a search.

1. While the bluing is very dark and lustrous, there are hairline scratches on every inch of the metal components of the rifle. When looking at photos online I don’t see this, so I’m curious if this is normal because I certainly wasn’t expecting it on a $950.00 gun.
I own many powder burners that are blued and have these scratches, but NONE have been like that right out of the box.

2. The grooves to mount the scope look incredibly shallow and honestly has me wondering if my BKL mount is even going to have enough of a lip to bite on to. Is this a normal finding as well?

Clear pictures might help you find if normal or not. (on the scratches & thickness/thinness of lip)

They don’t show particularly well in photos, but if you look you can see the hairline scratches as mentioned.

The weight of this thing caught me off guard too. I read the specifications, but it was still a shocker holding an air rifle that weights as much as some of my centerfire precision rifles LOL!

If the scratches bother you...return for a new one. As far as the grooves go...my rings hold on fine.

Looking at your photo it appears my pin stop holes are oval as well, whereas yours appears to be perfectly round.

As far as bothering me, if they’re all like that then I can live with it. I’m just trying to see if anyone else has the same thing going on.

I have three TX200s.
#1 is 12 years old.
#2 is 2 years old.
#3 is 15 years old.
Neither of them have the scratches you depict.
If your BKL rings have a anti-drift pin they will work fine.
Me, I would send that rifle back..

Spending time trying to look at as many photos as I can online to see if I notice these issues on any other guns.

Found this one that shows the elongated pin holes as well.

I’d send it back. That looks like the polishing wasn’t completed when it was sent for blueing.

The more time I spend Googling and YouTubing, the more I’m feeling like these are common occurrences.
I have now counted 9 different videos or photos where the pin holes are just like mine,
.
As far as the hairline scratching, I think I might have jumped the gun on mentioning them since I have seen several on Google that appear not to have them, yet once the gun is under harsh sunlight or lighting they appear.
Mine is the same way, can’t see them unless in direct sunlight or spotlight lighting in my house.

While it may not be ideal, I’m thinking sending it back is going to be more trouble than it’s worth since the issues I questioned are easily found on many others.

Going to install the BKL mount tomorrow and temporarily add a red dot until my daughter can drop off my scope.
Hopefully no slipping will be seen and I can start to enjoy it.

If it shoots accurately & functions as it should you just might be opening a can of worms by returning it. Maybe dealer would be willing to refund a few bucks. Wouldn't hurt to ask. Don't think you'll have issues with scope rail.

Finally had time to thoroughly inspect the gun and will be contacting Pyramyd Air tomorrow to see about returning the gun.

Things happen, but it sure is a bummer knowing that it’ll be another long wait for a replacement since I’m a lefty and they don’t stock them.

I’m with you there.
I researched long and hard before deciding upon the TX200, based on the overwhelming positive reviews stating the fit and finish was impeccable on these guns.
Let’s just say I am extremely underwhelmed. The bluing on my $129.00 Gamo is better than this and it’s extremely accurate as well, which leaves me wondering if I have made a mistake by diving headfirst into this new hobby.

We’ll see what Pyramyd Air has to say tomorrow. I noticed they do have a left handed .22 TX200 so I’m hoping they’ll agree to swap this one out.

They shouldn't give you a problem. If they do mention that you've got a running thread here on the gun. And people said it shouldn't be a problem returning it.
I'm not a fan of PA but most often their CS is very good.

Looks like the metal was over buffed with to course of a rouge. This will oblong the stop holes and leave the swirls on the metals overall surface. Just inexperience at work. They are rushing them through. Time is money. Welcome to the new world. I would either keep it knowing the next one will most likely be no different or let it go and not order another.

That’s disappointing. As a leftie i feel for you. It’s hard enough trying to find left-handed air rifles, and then to cough up for a new one and it to arrive less than perfect. Disappointing.

lefty's are hard to come by , call and see what they say maybe a partial refund might be the best solution . Tx200 lefty is more than just a stock itis also the loading port .

Good grief. I bought a 10 year old Pro Sport a few weeks back and it doesn’t look like that. That wouldn’t be acceptable on a gun at half the price. Maybe PA will inspect other they have in stock? Good luck.
