My new shop

I remodeled our old smoke house and turned it into my gun shop years back. As our family has grown and our needs are changing, I decided to build a new gun shop so the old smoke house can be my wife's for her crafts.

The footer and floor was poured last week and cut on Saturday. Here is a picture from lunch time Monday


The new building is all framed and sheeted, just waiting on the steel roofing and siding. Hoping the exterior will be done early next week. I haven't decided on my layout for the interior, but am excited to have a shop that is 4 times bigger than my old shop!!

Very nice. Gotta beef up that door...I put two 2x4s on each side of mine with a steel plate in between for the deadbolt to engage. Abloy Protec locks, can't be bump keyed. And that allows for 3 inch screws for the hinges. ☺ Just sayn while ya have the exposed wood still. New construction is great, so many fresh possibilities!

There are 2 2x's on both sides of the door along with a stainless plate between both studs for the hinges and the lugs.

Ah, the smell of sawdust! Looking very good so far, puts me in mind of a future project I have in mind to convert an outbuilding at my place to a workshop-will probably take more time to repurpose than to build new! Remember to leave room for your indoor range, lol!

I am waiting on my electrician to drop new service to the building. The conduit is run up thru the floor and waiting on new service line. Once that is done, I can start running wire and finishing the interior.
