My new Maverick Compact-Black Betty

Call out to Tony at Talon Tunes. Waited over 5 months from another vendor for this baby, cancelled that order called Tony up late the same day or maybe it was after six. He answered the phone immediately and I told him what I was looking for and he said he's looking at one right now. I sent the order over to him and he said he had just received the order and it will ship out in a couple days after he checks it out. Two days later, She arrived sittin pretty in her case. Let me introduce you to my new little friend, Black Betty. I called Donny at DonnyFL and inquired about a moderator for my new arrival, not knowing at the time, that she comes standard with an FX moderator. Glad I did though, because the Sumo moderator is noticeably quieter than the standard moderator and silence is a priority. To show you how quiet Black Betty is just take a look at the rabbit in the photo(yellow circle) that I was literally shooting over at my target located 60 yards away! The rabbit was about 17 yards from Black Betty.

And talk about accuracy. Black Betty was hittin 1/2" bullseyes at 70 yds shooting FX 44.8 gr pellets. I have her tweaked with the first reg at 180 and the second at 150 and the power wheel on 6. I don't know if these photos are high enough res, but my target is just barely seen down over the rise at 60 yds in this photo. It use to be Trump campaign sign. Talk about Black Betty puttin the Bam-Ba-Lam down! I can take this configuration, pack it in my knapsack she'll be puttin the hurt on those nasty groundhogs in no time. Saturday was the best weather day we've had here in Ohio especially late morning early after noon with very little to no wind. Was able to get scope dope for 10,20,30,40,50,60, and 70 yds. I have the sniper kit on order and that'll push her out beyond 100 yds and 100 fpe easy. This is one solid, quality built rifle and at this price, compared to the $2300 for the new M3, well worth every penny. Anyone thinkin bout getting this rifle, in the compact version it is very accurate and its pushing about 75fpe to boot. Now the only thing I need is a cheap air source, although the pump does promote fitness.

So, after fixing the loose screw issue with the hammer spring adjuster cup and tuning Black Betty, I went out to my range and shot to 60 yards using 44.75 grn JSBs. Powerwheel was on 6 which gives me an average velocity of 883fps and std dev of 3. Needless to say, this gun in its compact form is absolutely astounding. I don't know if FX meant to produce such a precision shooting gun as this for this price or if they truly were listening to their customers and created an astounding gun at a much lesser price than their flagship gun to get more people into airgunning. All I know is this gun is , to quote a movie, "dead on balls accurate"! I shot at 15, 30, 40, 50, and 60 yards. I zeroed my scope at 30. My 60 yard shot I thought required 12moa but the first shot completely missed the target, so I brought it down to 6moa and then I brought it down 3moa and hit the bullseye. Not so bad for shooting off my Primos shooting stick! Can't wait for my sniper kit, then I'll be able to push way past 100yds with even more power!

I would've shot more groups but there's one thing Black Betty loves more than butterscotch gum drops and that's air. With that little body and shootin that power with that little barrel she's down to 200 bar in no time. I've never had a case of tennis elbow even when I used to play tennis every night, but I got it now from pumper her up.
