My new Jager Evo .357 beasty

Well my

 Jager Evo357 finally arrived. Got it scoped up and barrel cleaned. And out to my range in the back yard to try her out. This is a slug gun, unchocked barrel. Shooting 85gr Nielsen hpfb slugs. She gets 6 to 7 shots in the curve. Here is the rifle and 50yrd groups. Had some flyers but it's still breaking in the barrel. Had to order some forward scope mounts to get proper eye relief. So some of the bad poi my be me. Lower poi was below 140br

That’s a nice looking big bore and good shooting, bet the groups tighten up as it breaks in, but I need to ask since I have never heard of Jager before but where did you buy it at and if you could get some numbers posted later on that would be nice.

Imold, the Jager is a Russian gun. I bought it from BWalton.net, here are some croni. numbers I got on a fill. This straight out of the box 85 gr Nielsen slugs. 220BR FILL 1. 915, 2. 904, 3. 890, 4. 875, 5. 860, 6. 847, 7. 824, 8. 802, didn't run croni through the caldwell ap so i didn't get FPE. Dave

It is like most big bores as pressure drops have to hold for same poi , for target shooting . but hunting you know poi .

its just a learning curve the gun ballistics and the hold points , will you hunt with this ? so its like 150fpe can it be adjusted to be legal for deer ?

You will love that Jager 357 I have one in both 30 & 357. My 357 shoots the predator polymags best.But I’m definitely up to trying cast slugs.

jwrabbit123, not really on drop. You can get 6 shots at the same poi. 210br to 140br. Yes I plan to hunt deer with it Or hogs my states regulations say .22cal and up for deer, but suggest 30cal or larger. Haven't seen any fpe requirements. I have spot in my back woods that is set up with a feeder and blind, 35yrds. And yes you can shoot over bate in my state. You can pour corn on the ground and hunt over it. We have a large deer population. Dave

910 FPS for 10 shots. They are incredibly accurate out off my Jager 357.

douger, I really like this gun. The trigger is perfect out of the box, and haven't adjusted the HS at all. I may after hunting season is over. Its dang good good for what I need right now. At 210 br fill first shoot is 154 fpe second is 150-152 fpe. And your only going to get one shot at a deer, so I'm happy with what I have. I did get busted by a deer Sat. Afternoon at about 35 yrd from behind a small tree. Saw him turn and run as he was blowing. I was in a ground blind. Had a miner uren spill, been the blind 5 hours. 5 minutes later he shows up, know he winded that. But that's hunting. I now I'll get one with the Jager.

She's a beauty. Nice post. I myself want a .30 as I am not into counting shots, the curve, etc. I want a regulated rifle if I can get it. I was intrigued by the 16 shots at 130ftlbs, regulated that a company was making; but I'm not going to spend that when my State doesn't even allow BB's for big game. I think a nice Jager .30 spitting cast slugs at clumps of dirt at 200 yards is fun. Hey, be it Crosman Premiere or JSB 18.1 .22's, at 200 yards you can have anywhere from 8-12 feet of drop with a rifle set at a measly 30ftlbs. I'm really curious what your drop would be with that .357 & 85 grainers set as is, at 200 yards. I'll estimate with Chairgun.

I just found this thread. I'm in the market for a big bore and have my sights on the .357 Slayer. This gun looks very nice, but I think I'll stick with the Slayer for a lot more power ~275 FPE. I'm just making sure the Slayer is the one I want before pulling the trigger. Very nice gun though.

Triggertreat, From what I have seen and heard about the slayer I don't think you can go wrong. There awesome guns. I have my sites set on an Edgun R5M long for my next gun.

I have always admired the Edguns. I do have a .357 Slayer on the way. The reviews on the Slayer are very positive. The member I purchased it from also has an .30 R5 and told me it was extremely accurate and one of his favorites.

Nice looking gun for sure, had my hands on that actual gun. My heart was set on the version with the longer barrel witch I took home anyway, 3 days later I was I Arazona collecting PDOG heads! With it. 

Yours looks like it shoots pretty good as mine does.

1. Never even crossed my mind to shoot pellets or poly mags though I think I shoot 10 through it.

2. I shoot slugs exclusively NOE mold 82g with the hollow point conversion , you can get hollow point mold like I did from NOE but sent it out to Erik as noe pins are a pain in the butt!

3. @50y pretty much ragged hole and my paper skills are not stellar, have it ranged out to 230 yards and can constantly hit 12oz fans 7 out of ten times with sporadic 5-10 cross winds

4. Don’t have paper groups but my Chanel (so cal extreme Airgun hunter) you can see jäger in action on a Prairie dog hunt. If you don’t mind seeing the .357 slayer, 9mm Windy City up first if not just Skip about half way through https://youtu.be/2uKRgKh4VzQ both the jäger & Windy City are using the same bullet just sized different.

5. Not a great paper puncher but definitely minute of squirrel head out to 140y so far but to be honest, with a hollow point and power heart lung or any where near is a no brainer on small game. Yes way to much power for what I can legally hunt but only a handful of people post back to back footage of Airgun hunting beyond 100y it’s just too hard with pellets in the wind off shooting sticks.

Nice gun. It's enough to make me think about upgrading my 30 cal. at only 75 FPE that is used for pest raccoons.

I'm looking at everything from high BC cast .22's to cast .357's. I've accepted this fact. If I want anything close to my desires, I'm just going to need a heavy BR stock, shoot tethered, and stick with the projectile that suits the barrel best if I plan on hitting anything past 200 yards.



The Jager rifles have been highly praised by AZ in my talks with him. I like The Slayer but I need to know much more about it. I really would like a fully adjustable (even if adjustable means barrel swaps, spring & hammer change, externally adjusted reg would be GREAT if plenum could handle 275ftlbs maxed out) rifle that could shoot closely related in weight slugs with a much higher BC and turn the power down to shoot pellets. The Sumatra can do it easily, so, why aren't we seeing more of that? I may just buy a Recluse and shoot it tethered. Don't know.

The Slayer is externally adjustable in both the dwell timing of the valve and the hammer spring, which makes for a lot of versatility. My .357 Slayer is still tuned the way I received it, but am currently building an indoor backstop so I can play around with the adjustments for different weight slugs and possibly pellets since I have read that is doable too.
