My little .22 Prod

Every year my in-laws have a family reunion and call it Thanksgiving in May. This is a time where everyone gets together to eat and laugh. It is also a time where I roam the country side to hunt. Well this year I packed my airguns and the air tank but I forgot my range bag which contained all my pellets, binoculars, and my recording equipment. I was really bummed out not being able to shoot but I went to Wally-World to buy .22 crosman hollow point pellets and went out in the field with just my prod. I normally shoot with JSB .22 18 grain pellets but this time I had to make do with the CHP. After a quick sight in at 20 yards, I head out to the field. When I normally head out to hunt, I always grab my .25 Mrod or my .35 cricket and have been using my prod to shoot cans in the back yard. This time I had no choice to use the prod. My prod is shooting at 12.5 foot-pounds so I was very hesitant to use this gun to hunt with but I'm very surprised at how effective this little gun did. I ordered a Huma regulator from Nick a couple of months back and all I can say this gun did an awesome job. Most of my shots were under 30 yards and my longest shot was a prairie dog at 42 yards.

15 rabbits all head shots

"ztirffritz"I've seen two wild rabbits in the 17 years I've lived here. I can only guess that is why coyotes have no season, unlimited harvest and no restrictions.
Ztirffritz, I know what you mean. I've lived here in TX for 25yrs. and have only seen 1 rabbit in that time. I guess that why I'm totally amazed with those guys in the UK, they seem to be over run with them. They have so many, they catch them with ferrets and a net, check this video out.

I used to do the same without nets, Ferrets in the holes and stand back with a Shotgun, they really fly out the holes. Great shooting

I was able to get two jackrabbits yesterday. This is a first for this gun. I thought about getting the marmot militia barrel but the stock barrel seems to be doing very well for hunting under 30 yards.

The last jack had to weigh over 10 pounds. He was a big boy. I got him about 25 yards. I really lucked out on this two jacks. Normally jackrabbits are very skittish animals and if they feel danger, they will run.

Ztirffritz that is interesting love to hear about different areas. I also grew up in PA, both grandparents had farms in Eastern PA and Central Pa. Lots of good hunting. As a kid I didn't really appreciate how good it was. I would give anything to have that again for my kids. 78 goes right through the middle of one and a mall and development sits on the other.
