A work in progress, but thus far recoil is linear, and surge has been greatly reduced. Performance wise: near identical FPE with both 7.9 and 8.44gn JSBs (7.9s slightly more efficient, 11.08 FPE - .02 FPE more than 8.4s), which are the pellets that will be used in this gun.

Factory piston seal remains, but may get replaced for a seal with a lower friction design, with subsequent collapse of a coil and preload adjustment. I'll have to see how it goes. For now I'm going to enjoy this fine machine a bit🤓. 

Pellet on turret test: TWO pellets stacked on top of the scope turret, rifle rested directly on my hard and bony knee (vs rested on a soft pillow, rice filled bags, etc):

Cool stuff bud, glad to see this I just came inside from working on my old HW77K. Always been interested in the new Walthers but never got to try one. On my short list if I get some spare funds! Looks like you have it running like a Swiss watch. 

What's the bore and stroke on the Walthers? I know the insides are built more similar to a TX than a HW. 

And hows the trigger once sorted out compared to a Rekord?

The LGU has 25mm internals and UK spec and "full power" spec guns have the same 88mm stroke. Transfer port is short at 5.5mm but the 12fpe guns have a 2.6mm diameter port which throttles air flow and prevents ideal peak pressure build up. The full power guns have a 3.1mm transfer port.

I appreciate a fine trigger that is CRISP, RESPONSIVE and PREDICTABLE, while at the same time being SAFE. Lightness of weight of pull is secondary. LGUs are intriguing because even with their factory set heavy triggers (plastic) they are still ACCURATE. Once sorted (stoned, polished, clamshell unit addressed, safety linkages and all contact points, see here: https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/i-love-it-when-a-plan-comes-together-l-g-u-trigger-tune/#post-708069) and with the likes of a Rowan trigger blade or a BMS Precision trigger blade installed and correctly adjusted the LGU trigger unit can be set up in a manner that it would not hold back the shooter's potential.

This particular LGU had its beating heart replaced for a more open coiled spring, cut to acheive the desired power level. Power was then finely adjusted with a couple mm's of preload behind the spring.

I do like the Walther LGU spring however; despite it having a high coil count (closely spaced together) it is not a stiff spring. In the future I can always use the OEM springs (16j and high power) for rebuilds/projects.

Actually, I've agreed to work on a FT shooter's LGU and I may use his existing spring (16j). His is a 16j gun and has the 2.6mm transfer port...for now🤓

Jim: I do know the LGU's, per Umarex USA have been discontinued. Scuttlebutt from the UK is in agreement. I believe the guns that were recently available(not anymore) on Krale were last remaining stock...
