My Journey to Airgun Nation Forum

Where do I begin......

Honestly, it hasn't been this long and winding journey to this forum, only took me about 5 weeks to land here and I am glad I did. I had this OLD Crossman break barrel pellet gun from days gone by. It is a .177 and probably 25 years old or so. I used it for pest control several times over the years and I have one of the older grandsons that likes to plink when he visits. I live on a few acres.

Fast forward to early June, 2025. I have a house sparrow problem. They are killing and bothering my purple martins and bluebirds. I bought several traps and had good success, but I thought shooting them would also help accelerate the eradication. The barrel and sight on my old air rifle was bent, maybe twisted, who knows. Sights were all jacked up. It was old so I thought I would buy something newer. I bought a Gammo Swarm 10X Gen 2 I think its called. Wow! Pellet cartridges, what a concept, never knew they existed.

Had that for a week and moved on to a Notos .22....nice! Hand pump, check. Nope, that is BS past 3,000 PSI, so I bought a Vevor compressor and an extra little filter. Sure beats that handpump.

Then I continue searching to learn more about PCP air rifles. Look at all this nice variety of air rifles out there. Picked up an FX Leopard Standard Bottle with a Helix 4-16 Gen2 scope. Sweet for sure, but damn, how am I supposed to "tune to the knee"? Ordered a Athlon Chrony. Ok, good for checking FPS and tuning now.

Not too happy with these little cigarette filters. Worried about moisture. Picked up a GX filter today.

Its only been 5 weeks since I picked up the Gammo. Does it ever end!

After well over a decade seriously in this hobby, I see two ways to answer this:

From a hobbyist perspective: Fortunately no, it goes on and on . . .
From a financial perspective: Unfortunately no, it goes on and on . . .

Welcome!

Welcome and it never ends ....the constant needing and wanting.... now you need a thermal scope so you can pest at night....then more air guns to justify that this is a hobby they are like potatoe chips a couple will never satisfy the pellet hunger then wait for the slug hunger to kick in lol i thik you have just dipped your pinky toe in lol have fun and feed the hunger

Welcome, can see echoes of my experience. Retired to a Florida neighborhood under siege by terribly-mannered crows. Trash cans emptied, songbird nests raided and break-of-dawn calls brought misery to all. Tried to address with Crosman 760 for years with little success. Stumbled onto PCPs and Airgun Nation over 4 years ago, crow problem resolved with such quiet discretion that neighbors thank bird flu for resolution. WM

It don't seem to end I mean that rabbit hole will be a easy place to drop money into. Vevor junk I posted once.
I have a Tuxing twin cylinder now it's rated to fill a scuba tank. You can get one at Walmart with a protection plan.
Welcome to the Nation. When you finally get a tank , and fill a airgun in a minute by the turn of a valve it will put a smile on your face. OV.

The hole is deep but nice to explore
Moisture is the enemy!
As long as you are spending money consider a Brocock Atomic
The invasive birds won’t stand a chance.
Of course Brocock makes some other amazing airguns with a much higher shot count… but if you need light weight and accuracy the atomic is da best

No need to buy new, plenty of quality products here in the classifieds (check the rules) and a few other markets. I just bought a RAW HM1000x on a gunbroker.com auction for under $1,000.

Some high quality guns like AirForce and Reximex can be bought new for well under $1,000.

Then buy quantities of pellets when big sales are going on. I like H&N Barracuda pellets so I wait until Hatsan has a 20% off site sale and buy a bunch.

So, now that you have had a week to play with your Leopard, what new gun are you buying?

The rabbit hole is deep...

Welcome. I recently picked up the vertical mount gx filter with drain, its a nice unit.

It does take a few weeks on this forum to get accustomed to how things are now, I was going to make a thread like this too, i used to be really into airguns back in 2009 to 2014 but then life and health issues got in the way. back then they yellow forums was big but i visited them a few weeks ago when i go it back into this and it seems dead so this seems like the place to be. I used to have old airguns that most people now don't even know existed because they are outdated like a old air arms s300 (came before the s400 series), a R9 Limited edition blue lam stock, and so many others that i constantly bought and had fun with until life got in the way. I only have a CZ slavia 634 and a seneca dragonfly right now that i had in storage for years and i'm finally getting into PCP's again now that i am caught up on almost everything that i need to know. Its nice to be here.
