FX My FX M3 ... A "Love" ... "Hate" Relationship.

I have no issues criticising the many flaws in some of the aspects of the FX Impact M3 ...... my heavily modded M3 can make me smile and can on occasions make my cringe!!

Haven't shot it for a couple of months now .as i have been doing a lot of ELR shooting with my Desert Tech HTI 375 Chey-Tac .

Pulled it out this arvo.... dead empty of coarse ( persistent slow leak in cold weather) ....charged it up.
My most common target i shoot at with the airgun is at 250 yds...wandered out put some fresh white on it...pink centre mark.
Came back, plonked the FX down.....fired 2 shots to settle reg,s......

Absolute perfect conditions....not a breath of wind..

Next 8 shots ......... and today ... big smile .... pretty much bang on...

Its a "Love" "Hate' thing for sure... :ROFLMAO:

On the leak, if you haven't already, check the fill valve, that little o-ring in there does a lot of work and it's under appreciated. You'll have a replacement in your collection, hopefully they aren't out of date. Now to the shooting, you just proved that FX has a POI shift. /snark
Oh he was a honorary member of the FX POI shift club. I remember his posts and his determination to fix it. What some of us do to help or mostly eliminate it can be considered extreme. But it makes life with a pretty good gun more bearable.

Many here will argue...BUT ...from my own personal experience with FX ( M3,s) and several friends FX,s ( M3,s) ... POI is a frustrating reality. 2 friends actually sold their M3,s due solely to this aspect !!

My "Standard" M3 is anyone's guess most times in regards to POI.
My "Modded" M3 has been a LOOOONG ! journey of trial and tribulation and at time's .. pure frustration.
Its now to the point that "most" times its very enjoyable to use..

I can't explain it. Having over a half-dozen different PCPs, I find myself reaching for either the Impact MKII or the Wildcat MK3 bottle. All that until my recent purchase of an Epic Two. The Epic is heavy but for those days spent just on the bench it is first to mind.
Agree…I have the WC BT and an alpha wolf. The electronic gun is a tuning dream and an aesthetic masterpiece but I enjoy shooting the WC a lot more. Love it most of the time then a reg can leak and I hate that SOB.

I can see where a Wildcat could become a favorite gun to grab. Not complex, comfy, and light because it doesn’t have a solid barrel. My Dreamtac Compact is always a gun to grab when I shoot with other people that need to mooch a gun. But the original reg caused some anomalies over the years. Since I never play with that reg, it will be set on 140b until I sell the gun, I finally put a Huma in it after the original failed at the worst time. It’s been way more solid now. If I was a Wildcat guy and didn’t have tuneitis, I would probably install a Huma.

This post is almost word for word what I would say. The only difference is one friend is on pellets with my old Impact and happy. The other friend is using one of my .25 barrels that I built but don’t use. And the last friend with an Impact .22 compact like mine brings me his every time I discover something with mine and he wants the same. I don’t mod his because I like him so much. I do it because even to this day the only difference between our guns is mine has a L-Tech and is black. But our tunes and speeds are different. He even uses the exact scope and rings I use. I even use my mod when testing his gun. I like doing it because my gun is the baseline and it’s very interesting.

The .25 guy wound up picking up a used M3 while waiting on his M4. I went over the M3, modified the components and slipped my barrel into the gun. It was fine and shot well set to the same numbers that I used on my gun. When the M4 arrived I got to mess with it and do some quick testing. The first thing is the backbone on the M4 is no thicker than the one on the M3. It was suffering from slow first shots like they all do and after testing another thing I look for in a slug shooting Impact, I told him I wasn’t messing with it.
