My FX Crown MK2 experience

A few years back I had a 2nd generation FX Crown .22 with a pepper laminate stock. With that gun I hit some amazing shots and I always regretted parting ways with it. I always knew I would return to the Crown eventually.

I ordered a 600mm MK2 Crown in a GRS stock and really loved the looks of the gun, but could not get use to the grip of the GRS stock. I don't have large hands and struggled to reach the trigger of the crown, even after moving the trigger back as far as it could go. I sold the GRS stock and purchased the saber tactical chassis. Now the gun is a dream to shoot comfort wise.

My crown did come with the "old" power wheel. (1-5 and A-E) when tuning for max velocity for my reg pressure and then using power wheel to drop speed, I do not remember there being such drastic change in FPS per click. Maybe I didn't mind back then with my old crown, but I definitely did not like it now. There was 30-40 fps swings when going down 1 number on the power wheel. I ordered the updated power wheel with 23 steps and to me it is a MUST have. It was infinitely easier to dial for the speed I wanted without having to remove stock to adjust the preload.

Accuracy with the 600mm barrel was excellent. Being able to reach 50fpe with ease was pretty sweet, but the length was deterring me from picking it up over my taipan. Heard a lot of great things about the 380mm barrel and decided to give it a chance. Let me tell you, the 380mm barrel is no slouch in power. With the reg at 150bar, I am able to get 18gr pellets going 930fp. Even with the short barrel, it can be tuned to be highly efficient sending 18gr at 880fps. The 380mm barrel accuracy blew me away. Check out these 100 yard groups.

FX 18gr 900fps

The wind died down for a couple minutes and these were the best groups. The others had lots of right to left stringing because of wind.

In closing, this crown has blown me away. This has got to be the easiest gun to shoot accurately I've ever had. Also, one of the easiest to tune with the new power wheel.

Next up on my list is the M3. I had a bronze one a few months ago, and it was a shooter. Now I have a black one coming to me.

Merry Christmas AGN

I bought an Anschutz rimfire rifle with a GRS stock-hated it and sold it. I have two Crowns, one Saber Tactical with a 600 mm barrel and one Yellow Jacket that originally came with a 600 mm barrel which I replaced with a 380. Both have dual tansfer ports and pin probes. The saber shoots 25.4 JSB KO slugs very well at 100 yards, and the Yellow Jacket likes 18.1 JSB or 25.4 pellets or slugs but energy level is a tad lower. It’s very accurate too. I really like the 380 barrel.

I don't know... Crowns never did much for me.

Have no idea how I ended up with GRS stocked guns in .177, .22, .25 and .30. I definitely have heard from more than one person that they don't like the GRS stock as well as others. But I've got 2XL sized hands, so I do know where jmmartinez573 's GRS stock went. ;)

Best to handle/shoot one before you buy, if possible.

700cc bottles on the larger caliber guns give lots of time on the bench between fills!

Crowns... Yeah I'm a believer. So much so that 2 of my fellow Cowboy Action Shooter (and now airgun shooter) friends ended up with Crowns as their first PCP airguns. Real nice way to start out.

The Crown is definitely "powder burner friendly"(looks and shoots like a normal rifle, not a bullpup).

Scotty1,

Minimum LOP on the Saber Tactical chassis is about 14". But one CAN get creative and remove the butt plate piece and bolt on a normal rifle butt plate and shorten the LOP:

I blame you for getting the ST chassis! 🤣🤣🤣

Ghostranger,

Your many configurations of the crown are what pushed me over the edge to get the chassis.

TMH,

Wow, you really love those stocks! That is a whole Lot of crowns. So glad it arrived safe and sound.

Cowdilly01,

Definitely Crown. It is a very user friendly pcp. If you have large hands get the GRS, it will be worth it. If not then "standard" stocks will work perfectly.

Welcome back to the Crown club!!! I was/am an impact guy and swore up and down about getting the M3 but ended up with 2 crowns instead. They are indeed phenomenal!

…..don’t take me wrong, I still love my impact but it’s just different.
The Crown is just more comfortable to shoot.

I've been wanting to get a Crown 30 cal for over a year now. Never could find the right one at the right price on here. Just bad timing I guess. lol
After reading this thread I think I'll just give up and get a hold of SPAW and order one. I like the pepper stock after reading on here probably go with the 380 barrel I have a new Atlas 5-H bipod for it. FX no limit rings going to put 6-24-50 Midas scope. Anything else you guys can think of besides an extra clip that I should do? Oh, have a Donny Sumo too. Bought all the other stuff just kind of waiting for the gun. Thanks in advance
