My definition of a walking varminter. Is an air gun that I take for a walk with me, that hopefully will be called upon to dispatch various varmints. In my case, the most common varmint is the English sparrow in the spring. They literally come in flocks of dozens trying to take over the nesting sites for the birds I love. Studies have shown they destroy the nests of competing birds.
That said, in my opinion, a walking varminter should be able to easily dispatch a rabbit or squirrel sized animal. Or the occasional lucky opportunity to take out a crow (not lucky for the crow).
The rifle should be light weight. It must be unbelievably accurate with an incredible’s trigger. It’s hard to hit an English sparrow offhand at 40 to 60 yards.
It should also be pleasing to the eye and hand. I personally love wood, especially wood with nice grain that has been beautifully worked.
