My first Springer - TX200

I also like the 2 pellets d.... mentioned in my TX200. In the 8.44 the .451 shoots a bit better than the .452. In the 10.3 the only size I have found is .452. In a wadcutter style pellet the RWS Super Mag 9.3 is the best I have found testing quite a few different ones at 22 yards. At 11 yards they all shot good but moving to 22 yards separated the flat face wadcutters. The other dome pellet that shoots like the two Air Arms is the RWS Super Dome 8.3. I have tried some higher end MATCH pellets but my gun did not like any of them, but they do come packaged nicely.

Thank you sir. I am definitely open to it. I wanted to shoot it and see what it would be like first. The guys that shoot at one of the local matches both shoot under 12 fpe, so I had been wondering which direction I might go. I had hoped to go to the final match this weekend with my Thomas and tak to the Springer guys a little and have been kicking myself for not going. It did give me an opportunity to get the new rifle in, get the scope on, and fire some shots though, so not a total loss.

Since you brought it up, are people still mostly shooting the 8.44gr even at factory speeds? Everyone suggests those, but they don’t also usually say what power they are shooting. Even match reports don’t usually say the power on the springers.
I’ve been very happy with JSB 8.44s, 4.52 dia. in my FAC Air Arms Hunter Carbine. Velocity is at 890 to 900 fps., about 15 fps. But I have also found JSB 10.3s To group well out to about 40 yd. These buck the wind well but I‘ve found them to be more challenging at longer range due to significant drop from 45 to 55 yd.

A new toy arrived for my baby today. I look forward to installing it and the level tomorrow. I would love to get some decent weather this week to take a first pass at a yardage tape.

Question: What is the purpose of these giant wheels? I've seen them before an understand they attach to the parallax knob but for what purpose? They seem gangly and in the way.

For field target, you have to judge your distance using your focus wheel. The focus wheel itself doesn’t have enough surface area to easily identify yardages, with such little space, so you out the larger wheel on there so that you can identify all your yardages. It is much easier to identify yardages when you have 6” of space to judge distance instead of just 1.5”.

Ah! Genius. Thanks.

You can only go downhill from here as you have made a colossal mistake by starting with the TX 200,,(well technically yea but it's a different discipline dude) ,,,,AND,,,,,,,you will do it,,,,hhaaahhaaaahahahaha

It was my first air rifle. It has saved me a fair bit of money. I keep looking, thinking I would do better, but seem to find anything I get interested in seems to be a lateral move. Well, unless I go high end PCP.

I started with a TX200 in .177 and am glad I did. Remarkable accuracy. I have the itch again. I would like a .22 and was going to try a HW97K, but I have been waiting for 3 months and now they say another 3 months or more. Do any of you guys have experience with a Diana 54 Air King? I did find one of those available. It will be for bench only which is pretty much what I bought the TX for.
