Maybe 10 or more years ago there were some Eurasian collared doves that showed up here in North Alabama. Seems they were around for a couple or 3 years and then disappeared.
I do remember they had an interesting call. Nothing like a mourning dove.

Some of them must have moved to LA (Lower Alabama) to join the flocks around my house. Yes they have a weird call. They are saying "who cooks for you, who cooks for you...".

Thanks for the kind replies. I agree on the strange call, totally different. I have them dressed, plucked all three this time, but may just breast them out like I usually do mourning dove in the future. Beautiful birds and great looking meat.

We get those a lot in Southern California and I just breast them out and cook like all the other doves we eat.

Congratulations! I think they were mourning doves but I have killed 8 so far with my P35. I'd rather shoot squirrels but doves are pretty tasty too.

They are increasing in numbers here in central California too. Seems like they just showed up a few years ago and now they are all over. I'm not a big fan of dove meat but I like to shoot them so I add the bacon and toss them on the BBQ.
