Friends, I need your advise. My eyes are getting tired and old, i'm struggling to see pellet impact on paper targets beyond 70 yards. My set up is a new wildcat with a Vector scope 4.5x18x50, The glass is actually very clear up 16x magnification, but after 60 to 70 yd I really struggle with seeing the impact hole. What i'm looking for (or I think I'm looking for) is a scope with greater magnification,, what I would like;

IR - would be nice

FFP - a must

MIL dot - a must

20 yard parallax - or there about as most shots are +40 yards

Price - max 1000USD but prefer cheaper 😉

Don't know how you get by with a 18X scope. I'll be 70 in July and I pulled a 16X scope out the other day and could barely see the target, let alone the pellet holes. I moved up to a cheap 6-24x50 Discovery scope for about $300 and have no problem seeing my holes at 80 to 100 yards. I also have a 8-32x56 Hawke and it is one of the clearest scopes I have ever used … but for some strange reason I usually shoot the guns with cheap Discovery scopes on them … they just seem to get the job done pretty good and visibility is no longer a problem. It's a pain getting older, but it beats the alternative. 👴

Thx guys, No I never used the splatter targets but I ordered some from China a month ago, they will hopefully show up before I buy a new scope 😂

Cea, I need a canon..

Seems most of you like the Hawke, I'll check it out, RBAZ, thanks a lot for the offer but I do prefer to buy new. A spotter scope could be an option, but it's one more thing to carry around with all the other stuff..

Lastly, a buddy of mine told me to look into the Athlon scopes, but it's costing 850USD, which is quite a lot more than the Hawke scope.

Lighting can play a huge part in seeing your impact points 

a cheap trick go to harbor freight and get a solar flag spot light put your target on one of those plastic signs with the light shining up from the ground behind the target

I just use a piece of black tape to cover the light sensor so the light comes on in daylight takes a little adjusting but my holes are easy to see and when done right it doesn’t wash my target out

also plays double duty I can move it to the front and shoot at night when I want too
