My EBR Prize - Daystate Redwolf Safari .25 (.22) - review and tests

Extreme Benchrest shooting practice was very nervous for me today. Something happened to my Redwolf and it lost 15 fps of speed. It was very stable, but -15 fps. All the setups, pellets and equipment was the same as before. I tried to shoot first two matches at low edge of accurate velocity of this projectile (this very -15fps), but they were not stable at all and extremely affected by the wind. I became angry to myself and a bit crazy, because I didn't understand what and why happened :(
I had to reprogramm my Redwolf in the open field to get correct velocities and got 219 and 4x, which is not bad result as for me.
But the question exists. What if this happen right before I have to shoot RMAC or EBR? I will have to loose about 10 minutes to make all corrections (if the rules allow me to do so during the shooting). That is not good.

Hi Nickolay, thank you for keeping us posted on your progress.
What strikes me is that normally at the EXTREM BENCH REST in Arizona they tend to choose calibers higher than .22 to compete.
Could you tell us the reason for using the .22 caliber.
Greetings from Spain.

Hi. I'm sure that .22 JSB monster Redesigned (old ones) is the best pellet projectile of we speak about accurace and wind drift. That is why I use or.

Many people don't understand that heavier pellet does not always mean less wind drift. I will say more. Even higher BC doesn't always mean it.

I've tried to choose between 3 my guns (Redwolf, Gorilla, Custom built PCP), which one to use for slug shooting in airgun varmint competitions? Now I definitely know that my custom barrel on Daystate is not good for slugs. And it is a bit strange for me, because many others from the same batch are rather well with light (up to 30gr) slugs. Probably the situation is in tightest choke from all the batch in this very barrel. Anyway, this barrel was made for shooting pellets perfect and it does well!

My choice was correct (see previous video on my youtube channel). So I've taken gold with myself custom built PCP for slugs and silver with my Daystate Redwolf .22 (custom barrel) and JSB Monster redesigned (old ones). We shot airgun Varimint (Club Vostok) from 55 to 130 yards, hit zone 1,4 inch, distnce step is 11 yards onky 12 shots for 8 targets are allowed.

Centercut, if you want to spend the extra money the FX branded tins have a shallower skirt cavity than the newer JSB’s?

Thanks. I've been shooting the FX branded .22 cal RD Monster 25.4 grain pellets in Bleu. Not only do they seem to shoot slightly better, but generally they seem to arrive in better condition and the tins are 350 count. One thing I have noticed with the FX brand is that on "some" tins the pellets have a visible line from head to skirt where you can see they were two piece pellets joined to make one... MOST aren't like that but I have gotten two out of about 25 tins that are like that. ;(
