My EBR Prize - Daystate Redwolf Safari .25 (.22) - review and tests

Nicolay, when you say "old ones" referring to the .22 Redesigned Monster, do you mean the ones that had the shallow cavity compared to the newer ones with the deeper cavity? If so, what will you do when you run out of the "old ones"...? Unless of course you have a couple hundred tins... ;)

You are absolutely right. I have enough to shoot for 2 more years.

By the time it ends I will analyse which pellet to use as a main projectile and will buy several hundred tins as I have done with redesignes in 2017-2018.

My choice was correct (see previous video on my youtube channel). So I've taken gold with myself custom built PCP for slugs and silver with my Daystate Redwolf .22 (custom barrel) and JSB Monster redesigned (old ones). We shot airgun Varimint (Club Vostok) from 55 to 130 yards, hit zone 1,4 inch, distnce step is 11 yards only 12 shots for 8 targets are allowed.

This time it was almost perfect. 231 4x and 231 3x on fill size target. But still there were my mistakes. At least one on each match. The video will come next week.
And the velocity of the projectile increased a bit and now on high velocity edge limit (300 meters per second) of accuracy for that projectile. If it goes higher, I'll start having flyers with my pellets.

Have you thought of installing a HeliBoard on your Red Wolf HP? It allows 12 different speed settings and changing one takes only a minute while on the gun without additional equipment.. Something to consider.

Mike, many people tell me to do it. As far as I can see usual Redwolf patterns does not work with my barrel. The same as my program will not work correctly on regular length barrel. So I really hesitate about using heliboard with my barrel.

To tell you the truth I don't want to change anything in my Redwolf till the end of Major events. It is not right. The last thing I've tried is installing ART barrel. The video is done already and will be published next week.

After the events I will think about it and, probably, installing regulator. But installing regulator to Redwolf, as for me, will limit the abilities of this gun.

Rus, you talk about the edge of the velocity limit with MONSTER RD, can I ask what are your thoughts on the RTI PROPHET long range barrel, 1:32 twist designed specifcally to shoot the JSB RD at 1050 FPS?

I have one and have just machined it to fit the REDWOLF for testing, I can achieve 1040 FPS here (temp is circa 20 degrees though).

Also finally we just tested yesterday the REDWOLF with a regulator, 970 FPS with an ES of 3 FPS over 15 shots, but we need to work on the beleville washers more as they creep at 195 bar.

I can't tell you something exact about it and I'll explain why. I've designed my barrels in 2016 to be able to shoot 18 JSB at 1050 fps because we had highest power limit for pellets on competitons right at that setup. Redesignes didn't exist yet. So I had many barrels and tested most of them. The fact was that they all were almost the same, but every barrel prefered it's own velosity for 18 jsb. The deviation was between 985 and 1040 fps and all of them were SUBmoa barrels.

Quite the same situation I have with redesignes.

So we can state something only after systematic research. It is my approach to such things.

Very lucky day for me. I've taken all gold on Club Vostok benchrest competitons. We shot 3 divisions: 18gr pellets to 100 yards, all pellets (#extremebenchrest like) to 100 yards and slugs to 150 yards. If to count as Extreme benchrest rules I've got 236 and 4x scores.

All pellets divisions were shot with my Daystate Redwolf. Slugs were shot with my slug gun.

Anyway I've met what I was afraid of, as my velosity with pellets encreased a bit (see my previous messages) I've got one flyier in the second match due to high velocity and pellet gone to spyral, so it fall down to 5 score. It may be extremely critical on major event :(

I have received an ART barrel from Daystate. Thank you!
Tried shooting it to 100 meters (110 yards) with 18, 25gr pellets and 25gr slugs. Then shot my barrel. All this on the video. As always crystal clear picture from Kahles scope with RusBear's ScopeCam.
The first thing I would like to say is that my program doesn't work on that barrel correctly. Too much differences: my barrel is 4 inches longer and has quite another system of air income – that is the reason I think. But I managed to find the pressures where the velocity is correct and stable.

Did you ever see Extreme Benchrest 100 yards 231 score result scopecamed from the beginning till the end? And if I say that I've done it twice? Here it is

Contents:

0:00 Introduction

1:06 Match 1, 100 yards 231 4x score

15:12 Conclusions on Match 1, mistakes, speed deviation

18:19 Match 2, 100 yards 231 3x score

31:11 Conclusions on Match 2, mistakes

For those who are interested, here is the graph of velocity deviation of my Redwolf.

Orange graph is the velocity before I increased the voltage by 10 bits (see my message here https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/my-ebr-prize-daystate-redwolf-safari-25-review-and-tests/page/5/#post-1036816)

Grey graph is the velocity after I increased the voltage by 10 bits

Yellow graph is the velocity from the video - I changed nothing here (after grey graph), it is just my gun's velocity deviation. Why is it dangerous for me, I explained in my last video.

Here is the video from the 3rd Stage of Club Vostok Benchrest.

Slugs were shot with my custom built slug gun. I've got 3 golds there. Didn't translate the rewarding part to English - don't think it worth wasting time.
