Hopefully I don't bore anyone, or get the "damn Centercut posts too much", but I wanted to say that it was truly an epic weekend for me, from the drive from San Diego to Mesa AZ on Wednesday, to the drive home Monday morning...
I arrived Wednesday and stopped in at AoA first thing to register, and was greeted like an old friend, even though I was only there once before for EBR 2018. As I'm terrible with names, I was surprised that Robert, Darren, Rich and Loren all remembered my name (Mike) and not just Centercut. It was an easy sign up, and I talked about the new AAA Evol with Robert for about 15 minutes, plus said hello to others I knew from last year that I competed with like Dave Corder.
Arrived at Rio Salado Thursday morning, practiced some and checked sight in on my .22 EDgun R3 Long before heading over to the AFT range, where I shot 28/40, not great but better than the 21 that I shot last year, and this year the course was harder. I was interviewed by the American Airgunner staff for about ten minutes on my way off the course, that was kinda cool. I also met up with Carl (@oregun) and Dave (@dwilson050) at the small bore range. Both of them had been asking me about EBR for a couple of months, and I was providing the limited experience I had from last year. I also brought an extra gun (.22 FX Crown) and 88 cu ft SCBA tank for them to use for the weekend since they flew in from Oregon. We ended up hanging out most of the weekend along with my roommates Bill (@crusher), James (@masterho) and Brian (@brian10956). Always great to make new friends... The AoA staff at the AFT range were all super friendly and helpful...
Friday we shot 50 Yard BR in the morning, and the first 75 yard qualifier in the afternoon. Morning winds were RIDICULOUS, gust over 35 MPH, kinda hard to hit those little targets at 50 yards, don't know how some of the shooters did it, because I certainly didn't. The wind died down quite a bit for the afternoon's 75 yard qualifier and I finished 2nd in the first relay. Scoring was done quickly by the AoA staff, and just as importantly, very fair in all respects.
