My Dies have arrived..... Preliminary sample slugs with rebated boat tail

Nation,

I have received the rest of my swaging equipment, and I hastily made a few to test it out. I won't be able to do a lot for the next couple of days, due to Tyler Partner's Burning River Grand Prix FT Match, which I am leaving for in the morning.

Here are some 20.50 grain, 2S ogive, rebated boat tails that I made a quick few of. I'll have more info on testing for these next weekend.

I hope you have good luck with those Tom. I never had any luck at all with the rebated boat tail in .22 or .25(Rat Sniper). It may have been the slugs or my particular guns, I don't know. I really wanted them to work but they were just terrible. They fit very tightly in my barrel and I even sized them down to .249" in my .25 and they were still tight. I couldn't figure them out. I hope you have much better luck and I can't wait to hear about your testing and results. Good luck!

Stoti,

I've had some elements of surprise in this process, I've found that stuff I didn't think would work, kinda worked. Understand that I'm attempting to create a projectile that works for underpowered Field Target purposes. I think I almost have the solution, but it's going to take a LOT of testing to figure it out. In the future, I have a premonition that slugs will be allowed in benchrest. If that's the case, I'll be ready!!!!

I got my shipping notice too! To bad I will have to wait a few days when I was supposed to pick them up on my lunch break. Lol. I did pick up my press though. Man, I'm getting excited!

I tried some Griffin boat tails in .22 29grn that actually shot pretty good out at 175 yards. I hesatated to order them because I haven't seen many people getting good results with boat tales but the Griffin shot well so there is hope.

OAL that makes a tight fit never works in my barrels.
