My desperate search for a reasonably priced Crosman 2240

Hello all, this is my first post here so please let me know if I’m doing it wrong. I’ve been searching for a Crosman 2240 for some time now and I’ve come to the realization they, along with everything else, are no longer as cheap as they used to be. Ive been wanting to put together a pcp converted 2240 for years now and finally want to pull the trigger (lol) but with everything’s current price I’m wondering if the build is even going to be worth it to me by the end of it. If anyone has any advice where to look or information that can help me when I start the build please let me know.

MOD EDIT: GATHERING INFORMATION ABOUT A BUILD IS FINE, LOOKING TO BUY ONE OUTSIDE OF THE CLASSIFIED SECTION IS NOT. REMOVED WTB CONTENT.

If you’re going to do a pcp conversion then you really don’t need a 2240 as you’ll replace everything but the trigger assembly. So just get a 133xx/22xx trigger assembly, barrel, steel breech and one of the many pcp kits on eBay . I used the stock from the Prod

If anyone has a spare crosman 2240 lying around that they were comfortable with letting go please let me know and I’d be happy as a clam to take it off your hands and start this project haha. Which way are you going to pcp convert it
I have done the hipac, and more brute force methods, as well as pressurized tube and a chinesium kit as pictured. It's no power house but it does well and has a very high shot count for a 220cc bottle. I don't recommend the hipac or pressurized tube(unless you find a custom shop gun).

Exactly these points. There is not 1 part left of my 2240 aside from the trigger frame and the bolt/probe after I re machined it.

How would I do this if I didn’t want to get one of the Chinese ebay kits and got something more like an adapter with a small paintball tank and some sort of regulator. Keep in mind I have no clue what I’m talking about but I’m pretty handy and wanted to build something like “air velocity sport”s gun on YouTube.

I hate to be negative here but based on gun and parts availability, amount of work involved and what appears to be limited experience (correct me if I’m wrong) I would stop now and go in some other direction.

I agree. I have had a 2240 for a while now, but never realized they were scarce and expensive now.

i have looking at list thread for a couple of days now
WAS the 2240 a good project to be a HPA pistol YES but years ago many years ago when PCP pistols were not at all common now that is different and there are better choices to just get a PCP pistol
now do i care if he wastes his money and time but get his tinker juices going NOPE
now that the 2240 pistol is being made in China some people have dislike them and other say the quality is better
did the price go up YES it did will an old new in the package old one be worth more maybe
so what is a cheap PCP pistol ready to shoot and has some history
Diana Bandit price looks like it has gone up but it has a mag and silencer and wood grip good sights so as a package it would be my choice if i was into PCP and i only own 7 Chaser and about 13 2240 of some sort

Frankly I agree too, however I’m far too stubborn and I’ve wanted to do this for years I just never got around to it. I’m thinking if I do it Lego style and go piece by piece I can

I’d be more than happy to take one off your hands if you’re willing lol. I was looking into the chaser too. Seems like the only 2240s I can find available are just out of my price range and for the price I’d be better off getting a chaser. I’ve been worried about the barrel quality though and I noticed they are made in China as well. Any input on this? I found someone who has a 1322 available but it’s still really pricy and I like the magazine readiness of the chaser I just wish it was more modular. I know they make drop blocks for the chaser and they don’t for the 1322 so that is what really tempted me but I’ve heard mixed reviews about the chaser barrel and since they are not as modular I was worried about getting a replacement if I really needed one. The bandit is on my radar too but there just a little out of my price range if I intend to get the rifle version, because I can’t find the rifle barrels on their own… otherwise I might try to find a bandit pistol then 3D print a stock and get a longer rifle length barrel. After the new bandit pistol and barrel though I worry it would be more expensive than just converting a chaser or 2240 to hpa with a long barrel and metal breach… sorry for the long winded post but you have more of each type than anyone else I’ve heard of so any advice would be greatly appreciated haha

I started looking at a 2240 a long time ago. There are so many options and parts available I started down the rabbit hole.
In the end I decided to build a 2300s from scratch. I built the whole gun using only the original Crosman air tube. I did not want to buy a gun and replace it and the 2300 is very expensive. So one part every pay day for a year. It was so much fun to build.
And I got help from a lot of people.

Here is a link to the build over on GTA.
The thread is very sporadic but the gun is really nice
