I ordered it to compare with my Beeman Falcon .25 PCP and former Tarantulas and Black Widows in .22 FX PCP I bought in the early 2000s.
This is my second PCP in Daystate. The first was a 6 shot rotary dial that stayed in the action with a hook or hoop ring to charge the hammer shooting .25 caliber air pellets.
Well it was a .25 auto basically out to 25 or more yards with a scope atop. Floored me that a PCP could do that and be that powerful.
The FX Tarantula and Black Widow followed in my experience. I was just learning how to use the PCP!
So I got this Daystate Regal Huntsman with 10 shots in .177 and realized after this much time the .177 in PCP is a wash out!
So what do I do with the rifle?
I haven't figured it out yet. In the meanwhile I am shooting a .177 over and over and over with total power and satisfaction with accuracy. I even handed it over to a recent visitor to shoot offhand and he nailed the target at 25 yard offhand inside the house aiming outside.
The HW98 .177 is my latest rifle outside of the HW50 .20s but if I feel .177 then HW98 with Hawke scope gets the attention--even for strangers who never shot any of my air rifles until THIS one. It is on target for offhand shooter Darin who shot it.
He was used to PCPs but this HW98 with Hawke Scope impressed him beyond anything he'd shot that was "cheaper" and "replaced" to the point of disappointment.
I say buy the best at the beginning and learn how to shoot the best so you won't waste time frustration pellets and energy; as well as concentration.
