My cheap hand pump

So I got a cheap hand pump to start out with.when my seal leaked on my At44s I took the cylinder apart to fix the seal and found this. Guess it’s time for a hill. my regulator don’t look so good

If the pump performed well, maybe a thorough teardown, de-greasing, and re-lube would keep those contaminants from re-occurring? Could have been a preservative inside the hose, pump body, check valve, etc.

I agree with you though if it seems the pump design is at fault. In that case no precaution would help, aside from a quality means of particle filtration between the pump outlet and your AT44 inlet. An inline sintered bronze filter might be a cheap and effective recourse.

I have two Hill Mk 4 pumps with the desiccant filters, I use two inline gasoline filters inline with desiccant filling the line attached to the brass inlet filter with a hose clamp. With the two added filters, the brass inlet filter and the internal micro filter, that's four filters, I check the internal micro filter every few months clean or replace but it never looks very bad considering how much I use the pump. I always put the hose inlet inside a chest freezer for drier air to start with, these pumps do require cleaning and lubing every few months its takes about an hour, I fill five hi end PCP's with this system I guess I'm in the minority I like to pump, I've been pumping since 2004! I was filling my Streamline .22 the other day and one of the probe o-rings failed at 200bar! WOW! It will get your attention!!! Don't stand in line with the hi pressure line and I keep the line stretched tight so if it rebounds it won't hit the gun I'm filling, has anyone else experienced probe o-ring failure while filling?
