. . . due to covid restrictions locally - it ain't gonna happen and I'm not serious enough about it to be traveling 2 and/or 3 hours away to places where they are shooting. {sigh}
So: I've got this thing shooting *really* well at about 17 ft/lbs ( 875 fps ) with AA 10.34g pellets. I've got a huma in it dialed way down - it's around 90 - 95? ( It's been a long time since I built it and put that reg in it - I forget exactly where it is but it's low and I'm not really going to get any more power out of it at the current setting anyway ) This little gun is fun to shoot and its ridiculously accurate to boot.
On one hand I'm inclined to leave it here -- it'll be good for under 45 yard sniping on small critters, shooting around barns at sparrows, pigeons, rats, chipmunks, squirrels, etc . . . . so long as I stay w/in 45 yards. I shot it a bit earlier this evening just because - well -- because I haven't in a while. It's a fun one to shoot - it's light ( aluminum air tube as opposed to stock steel one which weighs a ton ), the trigger is light and crisp, I've got the cocking bolt light and easy to pull . . . it's a fun plinker. It's kind of hilarious though when shooting at targets earlier this evening out at 52'ish yards and I can actually see the pellets flying. I can't see the 25g slugs coming out of my .22 Vet Long at that same target board ( the one at 52 ) - no - they're going closer to 1000 fps and hitting a lot harder. ( lol )
*** IF *** I decide to throttle it up ( I've got a boatload of sorted AA 10.3g pellets ) then what have you guys seen / experienced for top speeds with this weight pellet (either the JSB or the AA's ) while retaining good accuracy? I'm not expecting to get 100 yard accuracy / power out of it (lol) BUT I know with just a little bit of adjustment on the huma and some dinking with the hammer spring I can get some more "zing" out of it and turn it into a little beastie - get it up into low to mid 20's ft/lbs and a make it a little more lethal out at 50, 60 - even 70'ish yards? ( still just small things - I'm not going to try and take out wood chucks or anything like that - not with this gun - squirrels and rabbits be about the biggest ).
