Awesome read - congrats on the new gun. I haven't had a spontaneous adventure like that in a long time.

There is some great ground squirrel shooting up in far northern California. Going next week. The alfalfa fields are alive with ground squirrels. That Wildcat would be perfect for those longer shots. A buddie and I shoot squirrels out of Macdoel CA.
Sounds like a fun trip! I see you slept with her the first night....lol
Grim, it’s funny you say that, and although I didn’t “sleep with Miss Wildcat” I recall almost 30 years ago when I first got in my trade, and I had to acquire my own set of tools. The journeymen I worked under told me to save a little each paycheck, and put it towards GOOD tools. Not harbor freight tools, but tools that’ll take me into 30 years of use. I bought my first set of tin snips, tape measure, and the hand tongs, or hand seamers. Back in the day that tool was exclusive only to a sheet metal worker, now I see they sell those at Home Depot. But the one I bought was hand made by Hamlet, and the journeymen told me to treasure that tool.
Well, I remember looking at it, realizing I worked a full week to afford a $90 tool(this was in 1984) I held it in my hands all night till I finally fell asleep. So, yes, I have taken “tools” to bed with me, lol. Thanks for that memory, ha!

You drive a powerstroke, you like Fx airguns, you have a great wife. Well we have 3 things in common
Mr Grimm! Yeah I really like that 7.3 engine. I am a diesel head, have been for years. My favorite truck though in a diesel is my 1993 1st Gen Dodge. I’ve put a lot of time and $$ into that thing, getting it to run like I want. My goal was to keep it looking like a “sleeper”, and it’s got a lot of go fast goodies under the hood but if you saw it, it looks like it maxes out at 75mph, lol.
Sadly, I haven’t driven it since 2016. I had to change out the crankshaft thrust bearing that had damaged, and while I was in there I replaced all the bearings on the crank and piston rods.
After I buttoned it up I converted over to hydroboost brakes, was right in the middle of bleeding all the brake lines, then an emergency surgery in my thoracic spine at 3 levels had to be done. From there a cervical fusion 6 months later, then another 6 months later the Dr went back in and continued on from the thoracic level he fused before the cervical, and continued down to the lumbar with added rods, nuts, and bolts. Somehow I feel me and that old dodge are sorta “connected” with all the wrenching we’ve had done to each other, Ha!!
So, one of these days I’ll crawl back under the truck and finish where I left off. I really like driving that thing, even more so than the Ford. It’s built like tank, and drives like one.
I'm glad to see you smiling Augie, you look a lot younger than I thought you would... must be the pretty wife keeping you that way.
Ha! Thanks, sir. I’m turning 57 this year. Body feels not old, but feels like I’ve been in the ring with Mike Tyson when he was in his prime. The secret to keeping a youthful look, and you ask any Filipino, is rice, sardines, and eggs for breakfast, lol. Of course a shot or two of the Balut Duck eggs aids in that, too, lol.
