RAW Rapid My 3rd RAW. This time BM500X .22 with cut rifling barrel (pics)

Got an unused RAW BM500X in .22 with cut rifling barrel and thimble for indexing.

It was made on order by Martin pre takeover by Airforce.

The gun shoots great 18.13 grain jsb pellets at 925fps.

I intend to do all the modifications on this gun that I normally do to boost the power so that I could try 25 grain redesigned pellets and some slugs.

The barrel is not choked. It is neither LW regular nor polygonal barrel. It's cut rifled barrel made in USA.

I am not sure ab
is that a Channlynn barrel? If Yes, I'd be very interested on your tuning for slug shooting with that barrel. Martin only made a few of those. I have one of them.
I am not sure about the make as Martin doesn't want to disclose the make but he just confirms that it's a real cut barrel.

However, Mike of Thomas Guns is believes that its Channlynn barrel.

i am just getting back into shooting. I sent in my rifle to martin for a tune up and some adjustments.i will get that back on Thursday. I haven't started testing with slugs yet ...but that will be in the works. I was hoping that you might have done a little testing as to eliminate some choices. I will let you know my progress...but i need to still gather the supplies. Not sure where to start..gonna be a long process since i want to find the best. I can't ask forum for help since the barrel is not a common one used with RAW rifles. Saw your post and had a glimmer of hope i didn't have to try it all.

for shooting pellets, the best results i found were the jsp 18.1 in a 5.53 in this barrel
Martin did test it with the 25.3 grain ...so i might test out those too

I have tested mine with 18.13 grain jsb pellets only 5.52mm head size.

It accurate at around 930fps.

I understand that in order to get good results with redesigned 25 grain pellets, I would need to increase the power of the gun. Same is applicable to slugs.

As I get time I shall tune it according to 25 grain projectile.

Then I will be able to test some slugs.

Would you please share in which year your RAW was manufactured.

i spoke with Mike of Thomas airguns ..he told me that the twist rate is too low to be suitable for slugs.
Martin did add a heavier hammerspring in my tune to use the 25 grain
Martin made this for me in 2014
Michael
Ok so not good for slugs.

My gun has light hammer spring that is why I can't shoot heavy projectiles at this stage. I shall increase the power later.

Mine was manufactured in 2017 just before takeover by Airforce.
