My .22 cal Benjamin Marauder has really poor accuracy

I bought this rifle back in 15' and have struggled to get any decent accuracy out of it. It shoots 2.5-3.5" groups at 35 yards outdoors. At one point I was getting clover leafs at 12 yards indoors, but as soon as I extend the distance to 35 yards outside, the pellets go all over the place.

I read something the other day about crossman barrels being trash back when I bought mine, and that they are now producing their barrels in house.

I've tried tons of different pellets and tired cleaning the barrel. Tried restoring the factory settings and bought a chrono. Nothing works.

Am I right to suspect the barrel is the issue? Anyone know where to get a replacement barrel and how much does crossman charge?

It sounds like the one I sold . Really poor groups at 30+ yards. But the weight does give you a workout. So not all bad.

Our .22 PCP barrels have been redesigned since then. About 5 years now I think. The new ones will drop in.

I called Crossman customer support today and the guy said it was probably something simple, and that I didn't need a new barrel. We went through a few things.

(1) Breach Oring (intact or damaged/absent)
(2) Barrel band touching the shroud
(3) Shroud being too tight
(4) Lubing the breach 0-ring

The only thing wrong with mine was the shroud was a little tight. It's supposed to be just tightened a little bit.

After adjusting the shroud, I tested it and sure enough, it was a bad as ever. 50 yard groups were about 6-7". Strangely enough though, the pellets did seem to shoot in two groups within the larger group.

The guy from Crossman was very helpful, and gave me his extention, so I will follow up with him tomorrow. To be continued.....
