Muzzle Brake Within Shroud?

So..

Is there any reason a muzzle brake could not be placed inside a shroud? There's a couple of new muzzle brake add-ons for after the air goes through a moderator.

The RTI P1 has a barrel spacer.."doughhnut with holes"..that allows air back into the shroud. It's not really a brake per se because it does not divert air..just allows a tiny bit to flow back into the shroud via the doughnut holes.

So wouldn't a "real brake"..that physically redirects air back into a shroud..thus lessening the amount of air going through an attached moderator..lower the dBs?

Being inside the shroud would not be acting as a brake..more like an air diverter/stripper?

Too much turbulance as the pellet passes through the "brake within the shroud"?

If it is made right you can run a stripper inside a moderator and it can improve accuracy. It probably will not improve the performance of the moderator with respect to silencing (just a guess there) but it can definitely improve accuracy dramatically IF you are having trouble with turbulence at the muzzle.

If looking for sound reduction, YES an "air stripper" will do it. The picture shown , meh. If you have say 6" empty space between the airstripper and shroud end NO need to add anything on the end , it is just something people like to do.
If you and hold a tollerecne of a couple of thousandths between pellet and stripper (thus actually stripping air) and redirect all that back into the shoud, well silence is golden.
Try gooling up an image for a swift (or Dawson ?) rapid or such stripper.

Never had userstood why almost no one goes this route except a 1 size fits all generally wont work all that well due to bore off center & such. If you can get one made for your barrel do it!

edit: second picture down show a decent air stripper used inside shroud

The "stripper" shown above is a Ruger 10/22 brake. The idea was to attach something similar (as shown here) to the RTI barrel..need to machine something similar or buy and re-thread. A larger CF shroud would encapsulate the original RTI shroud and stripper. The RTI P! has a 1" aluminum shroud for barrel centering. So the CF shroud (34mm OD x 32mm ID would be added and create a fairly large space for the stripped air to be re-directed. At least that's the hope..
