MUST WATCH VIDEO: How Airgun Hunting Laws Are Made OR How They Are REJECTED!

https://youtu.be/28tV-S_AW7o
I want to start off this post with one comment. I have seen the face of the growing population of Archery Fudds and the problem is real! So now that airbows and air bolts are becoming an option for hunting, the archery purists are coming out of the wood work against airgun technologies. They HATE crossbows, but they LOATHE and DESPISE the mere existence of airgun airbows / air bolts. I give you the Archery Fudd!

Hunter-on-Hunter violence sucks and is a MUCH bigger issue in my mind vs. dealing with anti-hunters. I deal with more contempt from other uneducated hunters about airgun technologies 1000 times more than dealing with anti-hunting people.

So what is a Fudd? The Urban Dictionary defines a Gun Fudd:
Slang term for a "casual" gun owner; eg; a person who typically only owns guns for hunting or shotgun sports and does not truly believe in the true premise of the second amendment. These people also generally treat owners/users of so called "non sporting" firearms like handguns or semiautomatic rifles with unwarranted scorn or contempt.

If this doesn't pass it isn't because of gun grabbing snowflakes. It is OTHER hunters wanting to "protect" their time in the woods and their opportunity to get the largest buck! If you've ever wondered how laws get passed (or opposed) - this video will hopefully open your eyes. Here are some of the highlights from my testimony yesterday.

What you don't see in this video is the side conversations and comments before and after this committee. As we were preparing the gear in the hallway of the board room, I had someone approach me and say, "Is that one of those scary AR15 guns?" Then she made a comment under her breath and stormed away.

I am not sure if she was an elected representative or just a "concerned" citizen there in attendance or someone from a special interest group against hunting.

I also had someone in the elevator as I was leaving say to me, "...that airbow thing isn't going to pass. It would kill the archery season." I am assuming they were there from one of the other hunting advocacy groups.

This bill would specifically open up new hunting opportunities for disabled hunters and disabled veterans due to the safe and ease of use of airbow / air bolt technologies as compared to vertical bows and crossbows. So, I feel the need to comment by thanking you for your post and invested time with this issue.

The content in the video is eye opening to me. I am middle of the line when it comes to gun regulations. I don’t see the point to express my opinions here regarding gun types, ammunition, magazine capacity, etc. so I won’t stir the pot. Interesting to learn that I might be considered a gun fudd myself.

We all have our own agendas, beliefs, concerns, and preferences. And, we can put any spin on a subject to suit our needs. When I first learned that individuals wanted lax laws and regs for crossbows decades ago and now airbows, I thought “sure an excuse to get after something you want, and don’t need”. The video sheds info I have not witnessed before with first hand anecdotal evidence.

Thank you for opening my eyes, and teaching me that there is a need for a percentage of the population. As for the part of the population that doesn’t need an airbow the jury is still out, but after all who am I to critique.

Hi Chris. I think I had misunderstood the bill you guys were trying to push in your State. I thought the proposal was to allow for Airbows for all hunters during Bow season. Great work you are doing up there.

There is no way we would be able to get an airbow bill passed for ALL hunters during the archery season. But the argument for disabled hunters as an adaptive device is a solid and ethical argument. As part of this bill, arrows and bolts would have to be added as an approved projectile. That DOES open opportunities for ALL hunters in the non-archery Deer season. That means you could hunt with it in any other season where you could use archery equipment like Turkey season.
