Multi-battery Daystate shooters, save the landfills...

I pulled my Pulsar out yesterday to put a coupla magazines through it.
The screen flashed a couple of times and went blank. This one has the higher end computer in it.

Anyway, I put fresh (?) batteries in it, then thought, hmm... I got one of my multimeters and checked the batteries for power. I use the Eveready Lithium, because they don't leak. I like the Duracell better for power and longevity, but I've had leakage problems with them.
Anyway, only one of the six showed below 1.5 volts. So I put the originals back in the gun, with a "single" fresh battery to replace the weak one.

What do you know, I put three magazines through the gun (low pressure !), without a single hiccup.

This is to say, you may not have to toss all six (or four for the Renegade) if the power is low. Just check them with a multimeter (inexpensive ones can be bought for only a few dollars), and replace the low powered batteries.
You may not have to throw out all of the batteries, just one, maybe two. I know that the batteries aren't THAT expensive, but...just a helpful hint to those on a tight budget.

This should apply to anything that uses more than 1 battery at a time too

This is what usually happens to a power tool battery pack when it dies. If you are good at soldering it's trivial to replace a dead 18650 cell to bring them back to life.

Yup. A bank of batteries is only as good as the weakest cell.

Just an unrelated side note since you brought up Duracell. I have never had leakage issues with them, but I am a photographer and when I used Duracell AAs in my Nikon Speedlight, the light would overheat. Swapped to Bunny batteries and no problem. Tried Duracells another time months later and the light again overheated and shut down.
I have no idea why, but have not used Duracells in anything since then.

Might also want to consider standard Panasonic Eneloop AA cells for low current applications (e.g., not a flash). They're rated for 1900mAh and 2100 charge cycles.

Thanks guys, Haven't seen the Eneloop batteries.
Will defiantly look into them and the Duracell rechargeable batteries.
