MTC Viper Help

Hi guys new here. Great forum and I’m amazed at the help and knowledge here. I could use some of that now...

I purchased a MTC Viper 4-16x50IR back in 2010 along with a Daystate Air wolf. I ended up using a different scope and put the MTC away. I recently pulled the scope out to look at it and possibly use on another rifle. I was checking parallax and when I move around looking thru the scope I can see what looks to be a warped lens with hundreds of tiny horizontal type cracks. Yet when I look thru the scope like I’m going to take a shot it’s clear and I cannot see the cracks. I have never seen anything like this before and was hoping someone could tell me what it might be.

I contacted MTC and they were not willing to look at the scope since it was made by Optisan and no longer offer support.

I understand this isn’t a high dollar scope but I’d like to figure out if it’s serviceable. Right now it’s a $400? plus paperweight that was never used.

I appreciate any input on what could be wrong and if it’s usable/fixable. Thank you!

Be mindful on warranty conditions on all future scope purchases especially originating from UK England.

No questions asked Lifetime Warranty no receipt needed is best.

Make friends with an employee or owner of a mom and pops glasses shop or nature birding shop. Maybe Wal-Mart optics make a friend.

Disassemble the scope take out all the lenses have them send off to recoat them.

It isn't as complicated as you may think. You can fix it yourself.

You MAY be fine if you actually filled the warranty registration process included with your brand new scopes and sent photocopies of original sales receipt and serial numbers of those scopes within the first 30 day Grace period to legitimize the warranty. I believe they are only for original owners who followed warranty registration procedure as instructed with the included Warranty information packaged in the scope box.

MTC may not have a lifetime warranty and like HAWKE is not transferable so only applies to original owners with proof of purchase receipt.

Yup all UK England scope companies.

Odoyle- Thanks for all the info. I agree with warranties but I didn’t pay attention to it on this purchase for some reason. Not sure it would have even mattered from MTC’s side.

Mike- Optisan is still in business so you shouldn’t have any issues. My scope is an MTC made by Optisan but the two companies no longer support each other from what I was told.
