Hi guys new here. Great forum and I’m amazed at the help and knowledge here. I could use some of that now...
I purchased a MTC Viper 4-16x50IR back in 2010 along with a Daystate Air wolf. I ended up using a different scope and put the MTC away. I recently pulled the scope out to look at it and possibly use on another rifle. I was checking parallax and when I move around looking thru the scope I can see what looks to be a warped lens with hundreds of tiny horizontal type cracks. Yet when I look thru the scope like I’m going to take a shot it’s clear and I cannot see the cracks. I have never seen anything like this before and was hoping someone could tell me what it might be.
I contacted MTC and they were not willing to look at the scope since it was made by Optisan and no longer offer support.
I understand this isn’t a high dollar scope but I’d like to figure out if it’s serviceable. Right now it’s a $400? plus paperweight that was never used.
I appreciate any input on what could be wrong and if it’s usable/fixable. Thank you!
