MTC Viper Connect on FWB 601 SSP

Bought a used but like new MTC Viper Connect here on AGN for the FWB 601 SSP 10M Target rifle I also bought used a short while ago. Wanted to mount a scope, needed to modify the cover that flips up to allow loading the pellet since it comes up too high. Found a short gate on eBay. Used a dovetail to picatinny adapter and medium height Hawke Tactical 30mm rings. Had to mount further aft than normal but since the Viper Connect has zero eye relief it all worked out. Super accurate and easy to shoot.

How's the glass on that scope? I find the idea of the connect intriguing but the mtc stuff I've looked through before has been horrible.

Pretty good glass. Comparable to my Hawke Sidewinder.

I bought the same short gate from Nikonos on EBay for my FWB 600 and it worked out great! Also bought the MTC Viper connect here on AGN very clear sight picture love the recticle and very wide field of view .Waiting for Tipan Veteran shorty.22 to arrive to put Viper on I think this is the perfect scope for such a compact gun.

Have one on my Impact, as said the wide field of view is ace, and I love the fine reticule.

@pelletpinger, looking good. The best way to describe these scopes is that it is very similar to looking through binoculars, or a monocular. Your eye must be almost touching for the relief to be correct.

What is the maximum distance to shoot with the 601, where still knocks down a rabbit ?
I’m planning to buy one but what I’ve heard it’s a 10 metre rifle.

Yes, it’s about a 6 fpe gun, so not much power. I wouldn’t shoot a rabbit or squirrel at greater than 40 yards. I shot a crow yesterday at 25 yards and it went down hard. I’d limit my squirrel and rabbit shots to head shots... still has 4 fpe at 40 yards. I have mine first zero at 10M and second zero happens to fall right at 27 yards. Fairly flat in between, 1/2 inch hold under max... 40 yards is almost a 3 inch drop.

Closest gun with power would be the FX Independence or the Indy.

Yes, I saw that but it’s very over priced especially here in Australia.
How about Diana 48/52? Any good or bad?

RWS 54 has a similar sled system to the FWB 300s and shoots lights out! I have one in.22 .If i do my part right I can shoot a spray paint nozzle off of the can at 40 yards most of the time. The 54 Airking is smooth shooting and hard hiting very accurate spring gun. It has about 23 ft pounds if I remember correctly.

Yes it does. The sled system allows the gun slide in the stock to absorb felt reoil. Makes it shoot almost like a PCP.
