Most adjustable power

Just curious which .177 rifles are most adjustable from low to high? Not just OOB but with aftermarket upgrades as well.

Is there one that can go as low as 5FPE but as high as 20FPE or even 30FPE?

Im interested in the high variability as a potential selling point for pest control in large industrial buildings. Dont want a stray pellet penetrating too deep into walls and hitting wires or pipes, so being able to dial it “way way back” or “way way up” on a .177 would be of huge interest, as it would be mostly used on birds, but also on an occasional rodent.

FX impact or FX crown have this adjustability.

You can change transfer port, reg pressure and hammer force all externally.

With a steyr you can achieve about the same thing. The hammer spring is externally adjustable and the transferport can swapped. If you set the regulator pressure quite high it's possible to achieve a very broad range of velocity adjustment.

i dont recommend .177. it is the piercing caliber, it is like driving needles even at 775fps

detune a .22 or .25 instead it will not penetrate but will have stopping power. better suiting your requirement

Air Arms S400/500 FAC models. They use a transfer port restrictor that can give you 5-25fpe in .177. You will get 40 or so consistent shots per fill. You can buy it as a carbine, and even a take down model if you will be spending time inside or in tight quarters. No it's not regulated but it can be relatively easy. They are built well, have a great trigger and lots of aftermarket support. The best part is that new you can have one for under $1000 new, and even less used if you can wait for one to com up.

That indeed looks like one of the fastest ways I've seen (maybe the FX impact is slightly faster but I don't know if it has this large range without adjusting the regulator). A Steyr is a little bit harder to tune this fast because you can only turn the HST for 1/6 of a turn at a time (the HST screw is partly inside the stock), for the rest it works the same way. The transfer ports are also easily changeable and that already decreases the adjustment time.

Another thing I like about the Thomas is how easy it is to clean the barrel. I hate to clean a barrel on an air rifle and this configuration makes it a breeze.

I just use my carbon fiber .177 Tipton cleaning rod with jag and one inch round patches. 3 passes wet with Kroil and 3 dry pushed through from the breech end and I'm done. I do this about every 200 shots. The polygon barrels can get pretty dirty, but this just makes it so easy to clean. This is another reason I'd rather pay more and get it instead of the RAW. Now if Martin at RAW ever comes up with this type of barrel/swing port configuration then I'm game!

The FX Verminator in .22 cal. sounds like what you need for indoor and outdoor pesting and small game. I have the Verminator in .22 cal. and at high power it puts out 22 to 24 fpe and at medium power 12 fpe and I can't remember how much at low power. At high power I get over 100 shots per fill but don't know if you get more shots at lower power settings. It has a very nice trigger, side cocking lever for quick follow up shots and is nice and compact. Bill
