Morning arboreal rodent came to my cheap Lead buffet

It has been weeks since the last arboreal rodent has shown up for the all you can eat lead buffet. Kids are up but playing in bed and while I was making coffee I noticed a dark shape under the bird feeder. First thought was the doves are back but then I realized it’s a new customer for my lead buffet! Walking to the garage while deciding in my head which which lead buffet servers for the new customer, just changed barrels between the Dreamline and crown so don’t remember which one is zeroed. Since I was shooting my PP700 yesterday I just grabbed it with a few CPHP.

Peaked around corner of the house and it was about 22-23 yards partially obscured by a small plant, I was so excited I pulled the first shot, damn squirrel fever! Fortunately they are urban tree rats so it just jumped up on my oak tree and thinking it’s safe but now I can see it unobstructed. I put the crosshair on the forehead and wack, lead is served! The sound of the pellet breaking the skull is so loud I was afraid my neighbor would hear it. It did the customary headshot dance and flopped 15 feet away. Shot placement is a little to the left but still did the job.

The PP700 is the cheapest lead buffet server I have in every way including the amazon scope on it. It’s shooting the .177 CPHP pellets at 660fps, .177 hades at 600FPS or just under 8 FPE. The entire setup can be had for a little over $350 bucks, was cheaper but price has gone up.

Edit: recovered the pellet and it was lodged in the neck, looks like it even deformed a little.

Thanks everyone! I’ve had that little gun for over a year now and it just keeps on surprising me. The 10 shot shot strings are simply amazing with ES of 10 and SD of 2-3 with crosman pellets, slightly lower with hades. It has been laser accurate but biggest challenge has been finding a scope/optic that fits(not too big) while still good enough to see well at 25 yards.

On the downer note my neighbor directly behind me is about move and just told me the new neighbor will be moving in at end of the month. He said the new neighbors who are retired couple happens to be squirrel lovers and even asked how come they don’t see any squirrels! Doh!!! Soooooo……..this little gun might just be the gun I have to rely on as my lead buffet operation goes full covert.
