Having this been an on-going project these last couple years, this just a revisit and share of the ever ongoing search for the ideal FT pistolla
Having the MFR in a RAW std action "Chassis" this last year+ and having shot it enough now to get an opinion ? .... The Chassis for a FT pistol set up was shy of ideal. Conclusion grip too far down from guns action feeling top heavy and wavey never really feeling any type hold was really locked down.
So after a year+ looking at the Thumb Hole / Thumb Up profile stock action had been in previous, take a VERY deep breath, resolve no going back & START CUTTING
on a Walnut Theoben stock to transform it into a very specialized AAFTA Hunter Class Field Target Pistol profile staying in the 15/3/25 inch rule
After about 3 hours we get the stock cut apart, profiled on the 1" bench belt sander & hand shaped from there with RAW V-Manifold fill/gauge cuts etc to fit the modified/updated spec components. Bit of staining where wood was cut, then a sealed with a paste wax final coat.
*Stock as an FYI was a dedicated RH profile. So in cutting decided some wrist support which is kinda built in to the stock as profiled was kept at a small lets say Pad that supports one's heal/palm. Much more stable than a "AR" generic grip of ones choosing.
Now the grip is nearly an inch closer to the action, grip is well ... sublime. Set up as such obviously a specialized FT use pistol with any other use it goes back into a chassis configuration.
