More Average Jim and my Commander .22, RTI Prophet .25 and Leshy 2 .25

It stopped raining and blowing so I returned to my backyard range and did some more testing. Everything for all 3 rifles was the same except for scopes, calibers, and barrell length. The barrel lengths are the ones you get when you open the box. All shots were using the JSB Hades. First up is the still errant Brocock Commander. The sponsor of the gun sent me new internal baffles made for a .30. The baffle is a ($200) Trident. It was thought that the baffle I had before, a .25, may have been a contributing factor to the inferior groups. (Others mentioned I might not know how to shoot.) The first picture below was shot at 50 yards. The upper group was with the Commander and the .30 Trident Moderator. POA was the center of the red square. Not so Good! The lower part of the same picture shows the group whent the POA was the center of the lower red Square with no moderator and just the stock muzzle break.. Not great but getting better.

Is it me or is it something else?? So I loaded up 2 magazines for the RTI Prophet and shot at the red square on the left upper side of the target. Heres' what the Prophet gave me. The flyers were the first shots out of the rifle that had been idle for quite a few weeks.

Still not satisfied I though why not try the Leshy 2 with the 250mm barrell. Here's what I got at 25 yards. The one 'flyer' was the last shot and I was so excited with the group I got a little trigger happy.. It is a semi-auto.

With that short barrell I wanted to see what would happen at 50 yards.I did 16 shots and the left half of the hits came from the first magazine full while the right half came from the last 8 shots..POA was the center of the red square. (That also shows the shots from the RTI)

In case it's impotant the Commander has a 6-25 Bushnell Match Pro.. The RTI has a 3-12 Discovery and the Leshy 2 has a 4-12 Barra. This is my experience and I'm sticking to it. Thanks for looking.

Mine didn't shoot right, ever! I finally had my local vendor return it to AoA for a look-see and they ended up replacing the barrel. I haven't shot it since I got it back, so don't know if that fixed it. But right now I would be hesitant to recommend anything Brocock to anyone asking me. My Avenger shoots one hole groups all day as do my Wildcat and Maverick. But this paper weight is a dog.

@rsfrid, so from your one brief experience with your Brocock, the whole brand is suspect? You admit to not even shooting the gun since getting it back? Sometimes a person sours on a gun, and that's understandable... Some shoot one platform better than others, lots of variables. Both my Brococks have been solid and consistently accurate, but I guess they're outliers?

Same here, My XR concept has been like a laser so far. with the Huma Air Moderator on it.

I get what your saying, but a person can only recommend or not recommend on their experience. Sure others can and have had different experiences, but if his experience has not been so good then one couldn’t expect him to recommend the gun.

@jim81, seems like you been diligent in your testing of different pellets out of your Commander. They are definitely capable of better accuracy than what you've shown, so something is clearly wrong. Send it back and give it another chance, or not. Either way it sucks you couldn't get the accuracy they're known for out the box.

@redtick12, I understand, but not recommend anything Brocock? Based on a singular experience? He states he hasn't shot it after it was in for warranty work. So I understand based on his initial experience his negative view of one Brocock. But to not give it a fair second chance? Maybe to see if his original issue was made right by the vendor?

Here is what I have noticed, people will criticize too fast, then get some help and then eat crow and say,"all is good after all".

Yes ,some people get a bad one; I think all things need a break-in and learning carve….give it time, give it love and if that does not work, send it back or to me.

Amen brother… experienced similar before.

Jim81, For what its worth, I’m sure you have more experience than I in air rifles. I was lucky to have a supply of various.22 pellets to try with my newly acquired Commander XR. I have done no adjustments from receiving the rifle other than top with a athalon 3-12. So far i have tried about 8 different ones at 50 yd. I have had 4 shoot very well. They are JSB exact 15.89, H&N Baracuda hunter 18.21, Crossman Premier Piranha 14.3 and Gamo Redfire 15.4 (Crossman and Gamo from WALMART).

I hope you are able to locate something that is satisfactory for you. Best of luck!
