Monkeyshine huma Wildcat clone

So after seeing Monkeyshines mk3 huma I decided I wanted to do the same to my w/cat. I ordered a huma from Jeff at trenier outdoors and installed in about 1/2 hour, I took longer to bleed off air then to install the unit, I set it at 150 bar and left hammer spring alone, shot it today, the unit settled in after about 10-12 rounds. Numbers wise it gained 15 fps, out of 48 shots with 25.40 jsb's high shot was 917 and low 885, 33 es and 7 sd. So basically the same as the stock fx reg but 15 fps faster. Next weekend I'll play with the hammer spring. So a very easy install for sure, I'm still waiting for the huma reg gauge from the U.K.

So today I started adjusting the hammer spring on the w/cat .25 over the chrony, adjusted it right up to the top of the knee at 905fps, locktight the adjusting screw and marked it, let the gun sit and shot the taipan for a hour, back out with cat, fill to 230 bar, 1st shot came out at 850, what!, took 14 shots to get up to 902, stayed between 900 and 908 until 150 bar which is what the reg is set at, so Hi 908/low 850, ave 898, es 58 and sd at 10, 48 shots, yuck. The whole reason I put the huma in was because the fx reg always took 2-3 shots to wake up. I'm gonna wait until my huma test gauge comes in before I pull the reg out to tinker anymore, I set the huma at 150 bar and if not mistaken the fx reg is set at 140 bar, what do you guys think?

Ok so new update, my huma test gauge arrived, installed it out did some testing, when I installed the huma I set it at 150 bar, test gauge shows 142-143 bar, 1st shot string was 24 shots 1st low again at 807, took 14 shots to get up to 893 and ending at 897, no change on indicated reg pressure. I let the gun sit for 3 hours and did a 14 shot string, 854 871 880 879 872 883 870 882 878 888 891 869 862 856 so es37 and sd of 10. Also fps down from where I had it adjusted last, was up around 900 fps. So kinda lost now, I think I'm gonna pull out the huma and inspect seals, if no issues found reinstall fx reg and recheck, if it goes back to correct operation I'll send the huma back for a inspection.

Ok so the wildcat is back on 8 cylinders, after pulling the huma, checking seals, new seals and adjusting it down to 140 bar, it's still has issues, low fps up to 10 shots, 760-795 until it ramps up to 895-900, pull out huma and reinstall fx reg, adjust HS, now has ES average of 10-15 per 16 shots with average 3-5 SD. So I'll send the huma back and let them inspect it, right now I'm thinking I'll just leave well unough alone, at least the cat is back!

I feel your pain. It's a beach when the old saying comes true. "If it works, don't fix it" I've got 2 Huma's still in their bags, for my 2 Wildcats. Until I get my chronograph problems worked out, I can't do any "tinkering" I originally bought a Caldwell, but found it a pain to setup, and get working properly, finally blew the LED out. (my bad) It will probably still work connected to my tablet, but haven't tried. Then bought a nifty little "Combro cb-625" It works, but also has problems. Seems to register shot velocity, will show a high and low, but then comes up with an average that's higher then the highest reading of the group...WTF? So then ordered a Magnetospeed Sporter. Played with it a little, but could not get a single reading from it. I'm guessing it has to be VERY close to the pellet line of travel to operate correctly. I don't want to blow the end off it, so I'm proceeding carefully. Today ordered one of these, with a light kit, and blu tooth adapter, can't have too many I guess? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0028MTBJ4/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1&tag=pda0d8-20&camp=1789&creative=9325
Sometimes this air gun hobby reminds me of owning a boat, or a hole in the water, as some call it.
