Moderator’s for .25

My dreamline is loud even with a moderator. I have a standard DonnyFL FX that came with my dreamline and a DonnyFL Sumo .25/.30

the sumo is substantially larger than the DonnyFL FX and also slightly louder actually. I think due to it supporting .30 and having a slightly larger opening.

What moderator have you all tried that really took the bark out of your gun? The shogun looks like it is made specifically for .25 so I’m thinking about trying that one but I’m also open to other brands.


I’m not too worried about POI shift as I’m using the bottle adapter and have an Ernest Rowe carbon fiber barrel shroud installed. I really don’t want something as big as an emperor on the end of my gun either

Sounds like you gun is over powered. If it that loud that the Donny fl fix mod can’t quiet the bark. I have that mod on my .25 impact mk2. It was loud as well, but as I turn it down and get it more under control it gets quieter and quieter. My original shot count was 30 per full fill. I’m gaining shots and still hitting target speeds as I tune down. So I know if it’s super loud then your wasting air.

Check out silent thunder ordinance. I put their sarissa on my .25 impact and it was lighter and quieter than an emperor.

I am new to moderators and was looking at options for a new gun I'm looking at.. I thought I read you are supposed to get a 30cal moderator for the 25cal?

I'm surprised because my ataman 25 has a tanto and it turned a 22 lr sounding gun into a very backyard friendly gun.

I have Dreamline .25 at 59 fpe. I had a Suma, had an STO until an opps broke it and now have a Huma 4 piece one in .25. I don't think it's too loud for what it is. I had a Bullboss and at44. The bullboss had the same mod but larger hole in the baffles and was much louder. I wouldn't use a .30 mod on a .25

Still have my DonnyFL FX moderator on it. Very quiet no matter how I tuned the gun. Think a sumo is a little quieter but not a huge difference.

My suggest is to get the lightest possible ones for their size.

I like the "0db Tactical" the best for looks and size plus its venting system. The flat finish is out standing looking over semi-gloss on other brands. The noise decibels will all be within -3 to +5 = 69-72 low to 73-79 high db with a Talon SS of all of brands. There is a difference in tone between a moderator that has Mesh screen's in it's sides. as opposed to small holes that have more of a pop tone. I think they are all loud and sound close too each other. Not a loud as a roofer nail gun, but still loud for a pellet rifle shooting 750+ FPS. Youtube has the best tests

I have a DonnyFL Sumo 25 / 30 that I use my .22 cal Impact Compact and .25 cal Taipan Vet Compact that muzzles the guns, the Taipan though by far the most.

DonnyFL Emperor. It is huge but makes some loud 25s backyard doable. It's sort of a big hammer to the problem. Therefore, if silence is the main priority this is a good option. It would not be my first option for a gun to hunt with away from the shack due to it's length. But it's not exactly heavy either
