Moderator versus without

I’m shooting an air Venturi avenger.25 . With the moderator it shoots 1”1/2 groups at 50yd . Without it shoots 3/4 & less groups at that distance . I’m using h&n barracuda extreme in 28gr . It’s a printed moderator . Has anyone else had issues like this or is it just my dumb luck .

I have a 3d printed suppressor that weeble wobbles as you screw it onto the adapter. Is throwing pellets off a mile even debured and enlarged with round file. I have a replacement coming. Sounds like the pellets could be clipping maybe?

I use an in shroud moderator on my 25 Avenger. It is as quiet as my Donny FL Tanto but doesn't make the gun longer and it is not fragile since the shroud protects it. But you also need a few small holes at the back of the shroud to make it work well. I think I drilled 8 holes .046 diameter but 4 would have probably been enough. It's tuned to about 42 fpe and is about 85db close to the muzzle and a little to the side.

My Avenger accuracy does not seem to be affected by any of the moderators I've tried but I think the buck rail I've used on my Prod improves it's accuracy a little. I've started using in shroud moderators on my P35s and they do not seem affected by them. But the P35 shroud design always has an air stripper so it isn't a "plain" shroud like the Avenger.

Goose,
Over at the "Airacuda Updates" thread at least three of us have BuckRail printed .25 moderators that act like yours. Even boring out doesn't seem to help. I've given up, thankfully only cost $30, looking at Odb, in .30, AoA and Palm Beach Airguns have for $129, Trenier for $119. Not in any rush, will wait for any post-holiday clearance sales. WM

I was using a buck rail moderator on mine . It never reall shot tight groups. Put it back original & it’s shooting nickel size groups now . I’ll do some more testing tomorrow & maybe get some measurements

Funny thing is my .22 loves the buckrail. Shoots dime size at 50 yd .. rack rifle has its own attitude..
