Yesterday, I decided to test a theory that I had while rewrapping the get on my DonnyFL Sumo. I had several brand new rolls of higher end, interior automotive tape from a European company by the name of TESA. This particular tape SKU #51608 (they make several) is like strong, soft felt with some light adhesive backing. 

I re-used the felt that was in my Sumo, and wrapped it with a generous amount of the tape. I'll be damned if the tape didn't attenuate the sound by at least 10% to my ear, conservatively! 

My next test will be at my range to see if my longer range groups still hold tight with my 600mm Crown and Leshiy (with 1/2"-20 adapter) with the Sumo. They were holenin hole still at 23y, so I'm hopeful!

mtnGhost: The product you refer to is wire loom tape and is readily available on Amazon- searchable by "Felt tape Tesa 51608". At your door in 2 days for a mere $6.99. Gotta love Amazon in rural areas...

You did not use the wire screen, just felt and tape correct? Did you tape both sides of the felt?

There was thin wire mesh on my Sumo when I bought it. I did take Ernest's advice a while back and got a roll of 1/4" 23 gauge wire mesh, which he proclaimed was "required" for maximizing volume in shrouds like the Sumo, and preventing sound dampening material from getting pulled through the vent holes (and thus causing POI shifts between shots). I just opted to keep the thinner stuff that was already in mine.
