MO needs to clear?? HUH?

Not sure where on the board something like this would go..........
On two different occasions I have sent postal MO and was told they would ship my item after the MO cleared. I never heard of waiting till a MO clears? The post office would never had given it to me had I not given them the cash. What don't I know here? Brian

Odd.
As long as it IS a U.S. Postal money order it clears the second it hits a Post Office - or if they dont have the money at that moment they can still say Yes it's good or NO is it a forgery and someone is going to jail. I have purchased and cashed 100's ( literally ) of Postal money orders.

If someone is "holding" a U.S. Postal Money Order " to clear" that sounds very odd to me.

After great honest friend of mine lost a bit over $600 to a PP dispute that PP sasy they could not tell who was in the right, I determined I would never use PP again. I suppose you know 100s of others that never had a problem and I get it. But it is not for me.. No MO no deal Postal MO are safer than any other method when all is said and done. Slower? Yep. Thanks Brian

Thanks Michael
He said. "I'll send the gun as soon as the postal MO clears" . I just never heard any one say that. But twice now.. Two different folks. The last two deals I made.
John, I have like you sent 100s of MO for guns, many ham radio purchases and other things. Never lost my money. I know a crooked Joe could take your money order and keep/fake the item, but I do a bit of home work before I make the deal. Brian

Oh FWIW. I have bought $1000s of dollars worth of model aviation items. 99% with postal MOs. There is a group of folks on the RC Groups page and one fellow I met on line from CA let me send him an $1800 personal check for a Hi performance model sail plane.
