MKI Wildcat more accurate than MKII with Smooth Twist X Liner?

Ok call me crazy, but I have both guns, and have them both dialed in shooting nearly identical strings. My MKI is getting tighter groups by FAR. For example at 43 yards with 33.95s @ 800 FPS, my MKI puts them hole in hole. My MKII with the upgraded smooth twist x liner can BARELY pull it off at 25 yards. Anyone experience something similar? Yes I've ran cleaning pellets through em of course and broke em in.

Wildcat .25 smooth twist barrel. Lane regulator.

Have you checked that the muzzle plug is nicely firmed to the muzzle of the barrel liner? If there is any play there accuracy can suffer.

No need to have it overtight - snug to somewhat firm seems fine.

Also if you feel inclined to play around, perhaps take the sound moderating shroud off and shoot it with just the barrel and the liner for groups.

Dark Rattle....

what is your reg set to? And how many shots are you getting before it falls off the reg? I am asking because I just got a Huma that I am going to instal in my mk1 .25 and also am looking at shooting the 33.95 at 800 fps.

i want that to be my max power with hammer spring at optimal setting. The lowest reg setting I can get by with would presumably save air...

thanks.

Ha I have to agree I have hot a MK2 wildcat here with ST liner and my friend has a MK2 I shot tighter groups 5 out of 5 times with my MK1 so I told my friend to shoot 5 groups , thinking well My wc mk1 I had a few years and it is mine and tuned perfect with my scope , so I figured it was I was uesd to it , so when my friend hot 5 10 shot group 4 out of 5 of his were smaller with my older MK1 , This is why I kept my MK1 nd didnt see a reason to buy the Mk2 as I didnt see it as an upgrade , I am glad I read this thread it confirms what I had saw here

125 to 130 bar should put you where you want to be with the heavies.

I test a lot guns for accuracy with ST and STX barrels;

that said, if I test 5 barrels of the same cal and lenght on the same gun I get 5 different group size and most of the time 2 or 3 barrels has a tighter groups (A Shooter) the others are Lable as acceptable accuracy.

Now I test the most accurate ST and STX barrels of the batch at 40y —-> telling you they are so accurate I can’t pick a winner.

Now its totally unfair to compare a shooter barrels to a acceptable accurate barrel.

Its so true to tune a gun to shoot the tightest group with a given barrel. 😮

So a st barrel can be tuned to group as well if not better than a stx barrel ? So there's no reason to upgrade to a stx barrel is what its sounding like.

Pellets can be accurate in the X-liners at velocities way higher than what is considered too fast for a standard ST barrel.

For instance, if 950fps from an 18gr pellet in a ST barrel would produce wobble, it might just as easily be stable through an X-liner.

Possibly due to the pellet traveling too fast in a ST barrel before it engages the rifling in the last couple inches. The pellet could skid through that last section, which would not be good for accuracy.

With the full length rifling of the X-liner, the pellet engages the rifling at the moment it's fired, not 500mm or farther later.

Dont know what mk2 you shooting buddy

but I have mk2 compact and jsb 25.39gr flaying 890 making one hole on 50yards

try lighter pellets maybe that help

in my opinion mk2 compact not like 33.95gr
