Id just back ot off apply that retaining stuff and tap ot back in place but thats just me .. lol

Id just back ot off apply that retaining stuff and tap ot back in place but thats just me .. lol
It doesn’t back off. Barrel is knurled beneath where the sight assembly sits and there’s also a little dovetail. I can move it more than 1/8” but you still can’t see any of that. Have to heat it and knock off with block of wood or use a puller on it. Don’t see either of those doing the bluing any favors.

Tom Gaylord has said that people think that HW77 and HW97 have the same output, but in reality the 77 puts out up to a foot pound more KE. He then illustrates how the 77 was designed to be a magnum that got dialed down to make it more manageable, while the 97 was designed as a 12 fpe gun that was then dialed up. Logically, that shouldn't make a difference per se, but Gaylord didn't offer a meatier explanation.
I have wanted an early HW77 in .20 or (gasp) .22 cal for a long while, but don't know if that ever becomes a reality.

To be sure I just used acetone on mine and it's fine. Obviously don't get any on the stock.
