The story was told to me by a good friend today, and I am leaving out a few humorous details...
My friend in Texas is an airgunsmith. He is methodical, and will usually get the best out of a gun.
He had a very recent customer who sent him three rifles, all of which were suffering terrible inaccuracy. The customer was asked to send along the pellets he had been shooting. Upon testing, the rifles were indeed getting miserable patterns. Initial examination of all the guns revealed no issues. The tin of pellets was from a very reputable manufacturer (whose initials will go unnamed), labelled as 18 grain .22 caliber. Work began.
He was embarrassed by how long it took him to check and find that ALL those pellets were .20 caliber...but the guns all did a lot better shooting .22 pellets!
"Size Matters"...
