Mid Winter New Hampshire Airgunning

What better way to spend a mid Winters day than taking a trip up north to visit one of my favorite fellow airgunners. You all may know him from all of the times I've mentioned his work in my posts. Scott Blair is not only an extremely talented craftsman, he is also the consummate airgunner. He is what being a true one is all about.

Scott not only has a killer collection of all types of airguns, he has made each his very own. The added features he puts to them range from tricked out checkering and hand rubbed finishes to hidden storage areas with cool flip open caps for pellets. His skills seem to grow with each visit I make. So, when I get an invite, I'm there!!!

Accompanied by my friend and avid airgun enthusiast Mike Obrien, we ventured north. On board we had a Beeman R8 177, a Beeman R11 .177, an LG55T and my latest acquisition ...a Custom TX200 .177 by Mike Abernathy. Anticipation of a fun day shooting was high. A getaway day of airgunning loomed. The 2 plus hour drive went by quickly as we ascended the New Hampshire mountain to Scotts place.

As always, Scott welcomed us with a big smile and a firm handshake. Nothing beats good friends and a good time shooting each other's guns. Scott has some of the best high end airguns to try. Ranging get from his gorgeous R7 in a Steve Corcoran custom stock to my favorite of the day ....his Vulcan! I know it's a pcp, but I was killin it at 70 yards with that beauty! Almost makes me want one. Lol

We all took turns shooting at the plentiful targets set up all around the yard. Loads of fun and laughter. Scott even treated us to some very tasty Italian subs. They really hit the spot after being out in the cold. All in all, it was an awesome day that I hated to see end.

Here's a few pics of some of the rifles. Top is a Steve Corcoran stocked FWB 124 from Scotts collection. Next is Mikes R11. It is all original and a tribute to Beeman styling. Under that is my MA TX200. And on the bottom is Scotts gorgeous Steve Corcoran R7.

Days like this are few and far between which makes them even more special. Funny how a shared hobby can create bonds of friendship.

Nothing like starting the day off with some quality springer pic. Although, I thought you didn't like underlevers, John? Apparently, a Mike Abernathy custom stock is enough to get you on board!

As for me, it's Scott's R7 that I drool over every time I see it...and makes me kick myself for not having "pulled the trigger" on getting a stock for mine from Steve C. when he was still making them. Oh well...

As I've said before, if I'm ever traveling to New England, you'll be the first to know!

Funny you should mention that. In all honesty , I never could find an under lever I liked.....until now. Mike didn't just slap a nice stock on the TX. He made it easy to use. The bear trap is for display only so loading is a breeze. The TX port is large and easy to fit my fat fingers in to load. Lol. Finally a fixed barrel rifle that I can live with. The looks don't hurt either!!!

Scotts R7 is a drool worthy rifle for sure. Especially for guys like you who are into them. Shooting it is so easy. The thing has zero recoil and shoulders with great ease. You have good taste my friend!
