I mounted a Meopta Optika6 FFP RD 4C in 3-18x50 on my FX Impact 30 CAL. The manufacture specs say the parallax is 25 to infinity but it's not, its 10 yards to infinity which is nice. The illumination works great in daylight also. What an amazing scope. I highly recommend this scope at the price point of $700 delivered. This scope looks better than my Leupold VX3s. I have an Athlon Ares BTR on order for my Cricket 2, curious how it will compare. This is also a $700 price range scope.

Will the parallax focus at 10 yards when set to 18 power?

Check it this morning. Yes 18 power and parallax at 10 yards is super clear. I can see the details on the block wall about 10 yards away. So you will be able to see the pupil of the eye you are about to shoot out. hahah.

I never said I needed it. I asked if it could. Maybe I should explain it a little better to you. The OP is saying that the manufacturer's specs say one thing yet through his experience, it's another. If a manufacturer states that the minimum parallax is 25 yards, that means it could focus at 25 yards set on the highest magnification (18X). A lot of scopes could focus at their lowest magnification (3X, 4X) below 25 yards but his is different so the parallax must have been set lower or they need to update their specs.

I don't find it a dealbreaker if the minimum parallax is set at 25 yards depending on what the airgun's intended purpose is going to be used for. For a ratting gun, I do find that I need a scope that focuses to at least 10 yards. I've shot a lot of rats anywhere between 5 to 15 yards. Sometimes they appear closer than where your shooting position is set at. Also, a lot of people shoot indoors when it's too cold outside and sometimes their indoor range is limited. I don't but I hear a lot of people do.

I just find it absurd that many people in the airgun world consider the 25 yard min parallax a deal breaker thus excluding a number of "high end " scopes. Like mentioned the min parallax is stated at max magnification and unless you are shooting 10 yard competition I don't see the point.

I rarely use more than ~15x on my Athlon Helos BTR 6-24x50 FFP and to your point I am indifferent if it's minimum parallax is 10 yards at 24x. On the other hand, I have been eying the Athlon Ares ETR 3-18X50 and it's absolutely a requirement for me that it focus at 10 yards at 18x as most of my pesting is sub-25 yards.

Just FYI the scope does say 10y not 25y. Meopta just hasn't updated the specs on paper. I confirmed it is new, not old stock. Discount Meopta website for now.

Funny you say this, because I was just thinking this the other day. I am just an average Joe and I don't set my scopes at full power hunting at all, unless I have a SPF scope and I am doing a hold over. Both my FFP scopes I have on my airguns are set at 8-10 but can go up to 18. I don't even use the parallax hardly at all. If I am shooting at paper I will go to 18 and adjust, but that is 35-100 yards. So even a 25y would work find for my needs. But with that said, if I can get a 10y parallax I will. lol

Just couldn't get an Athlon. Camera Land NY when I first ordered said end of March, first week April at the latest. End of May now and they are saying "who knows". So I cancelled my order and got another Meopta Optika6, this time in the Z-plus reticle. Another amazing scope and the reticle is fantastic. I like it better than my 4C reticle I have on my Impact. 

I was able to get out shooting with a friend who has an Athlon Ares BTR on his 25 AEA HP standard in the APLR4 reticle. This was the exact scope I had on order. I was able to spend time with it. I have to say, I didn't like the reticle at all. Super busy and just too much for me (I know this is subjective to each person). That's not my style. On the Meopta Optika6 the 4C wasn't busy enough and the Z-plus was just right. 

I found the glass and image clarity from low to high magnification to be equal from the Athlon Ares BTR to the Meopta Optika6. Zero stops were perfect, both tracked perfect, both had a great eye box and the parallax worked great. Almost no image loss on full magnification, with a slight advantage to the Meopta. The illumination was a little brighter in day time for the Meopta also. Both had no bleed out from full power illumination at dusk. I liked that the windage had a cover and the elevation turret locked out also on the Meopta.

I would say these are for the most part equal scopes. Meopta is available at some places and runs about $650. The Athlon is unavailable and is about $700. The Meopta is a better deal in my opinion and I will stick with that brand for now on. If you are waiting forever on a Athlon and are sick of waiting or can't wait any longer, I would get the Meopta Optika6 RD in what ever reticle you prefer and start enjoying.
