AEA Megalodon hammer slippage?

I thought I was having valve lock for a bit because I topped my Meg up to 4500. The first shot would just queef out.. barely making any noise or power. The second shot is always good. Today I started from 3800 psi and it did the same thing. I'm pretty sure the hammer is slipping past the valve pin on the first shot... Or the valve is getting stuck? Until it gets a little bump, then it's good. The hammers striking surface does have asinine bevel on it for no reason. Jads silencers sells a upgraded hammer but for $100 I rather find a fix for it my self 🫤. Only the first shot does that all the rest are good. And I'm guessing it because I do play with the gun cocking and decocking it (which I've got to be reaaally smooth) but the holding the cocking handle as you decock twist the hammer a little. Anyone have or solve this issue. There's a couple ways I'm thinking of fixing it. Making the tolerance for the hammer to wiggle less or buy making the striking surface larger .

While the design of the hammer is a little questionable, I don't think that's the main issue. The problem is that on some models the bolt handle rubs against the slit in the receiver. This is likely what causes the hammer to hit the valve pin off-center and slip past it.

I have owned 3 Megs in total, one of which I sold. Out of those 3, only 1 of them has this issue. And this happens to be the first one I bought. My guess is that they corrected this mistake for later batches.

The first batch also didn't feature that secondary charging hole in the receiver. You could only charge them through the rear tank. So they definitely made changes along the way.

The bolt handle clears the slit without any resistance whatsoever on the ones I currently own, and I never experienced one of those "soft shots". If you buy one new today It'll probably be fine.

Admittedly, they should have caught this design flaw during testing... but that's AEA for ya. If you buy them early you're basically a guinea pig.

True that, always wait for the kinks to be worked out. I've got the second version also but I polished the hammer possibly making it more prone to slip. gonna get the after market hammer and spare valve pin just for peace of mind.

well, thanks that is good to know. that was the other huge minus...then comes the many stories of it leaking, what about that?
